I've made my feelings on this clear. I support the draft credit system concept.
My expectation is that there's minimal, egregiously visible tanking this year, the NBA victory laps, they keep these rules post-2029, and by the early 2030s we're all mad at the lottery system again.
I think the danger we're in is, the positives of the changes are going to be immediately visible whereas the negative implications in regards to team-building aren't really going to manifest for several years, so the league could commit to a system before we fully understand it.
I think they recognized the concern when it came to defensive size and that's why they pursued Spencer Jones, but against the Spurs, specifically, they'll need another creator if Dub's injury is as bad as it looked. Victor just creates too many issues for SGA without Dub.
This is worth a read. I've written several times about the reality that the all-in NBA isn't designed for stars to spend their entire careers with one team anymore. For it to work outside of anomalous situations like San Antonio's the star has to be willing to show some patience.

Yossi and I are podding in the aftermath of the devastating Jalen Williams injury.
- What does this mean for OKC? Can they replace some of what he gave them on the trade market?
- Some other opening week impressions, starting with Philly and Miami.

Dub and Suggs in the span of just a few minutes. Only the first weekend of the season. Just fucking gutting, man.

National Tight Ends Day isn't even a real holiday. the NFL adapted it from a pagan fullback festival held each year at the time of the fall equinox
Next week feels make-or-break for Aaron Glenn. Coming off of a home loss to the Dolphins, with the Chiefs and Bills looming, if you can't beat the Raiders you're going 2-8.
A random thought: Tyrese Maxey is (I think?) the best shooter that has ever been the fastest player in the NBA.
Normally, with speed, we think of guys like Westbrook and Wall who were shaky shooters. We've never really had the apex speed guy also be a killer shooter.
I don't know what the Pelicans are doing with Herb Jones but I vehemently disagree with it.
Hasn't played 18 minutes in a game yet. Was 10th on the team in minutes tonight. If this is what you think of him then why haven't you traded him yet?
There it is. Denver's first "played with their food for 3.5 quarters before finally eating it" win of the season. The 2026-27 has officially begun. MVP chants for Trevon Brazile.
I had a take this summer that Ty Jerome was the offense equivalent of Alex Caruso defensively. Star-level impact but could only play 20ish minutes.
He's played 31+ mins 12 times in his career... including both games this year. If he's playing 30+ nightly, he's just an All-Star.
I read more than I comment on here now. There are still people doing awesome work that I learn from.
But the actual interactions suck because the whole thing is designed to only put your content in front of the people who will react to it most viciously. It's not fun anymore.
Candidly this is why I'm spending less time on X.
Player 1 signs for $1 million more than Player 2. "I'd very slightly rather have Player 1, but I like Player 2 also!"
Two games in and that that's apparently a take worth dunking on. Like why even share opinions at that point?
So I'm finally watching Magic-Hawks and all I'm thinking as I watch this game is how differently we'd be looking at the Magic if they'd signed NAW instead of trading for Bane. That's no knock on Bane. NAW is just at his level now without costing four picks and a max contract.
The Orlando Magic are a team to watch for Nickeil Alexander-Walker, per @TheSteinLine
“Next season's full midlevel exception will be worth more than three times what Alexander-Walker made last season at $14.1 million … with rumbles already in circulation that Orlando is a team to watch as a potential suitor.”
