Programming Note: No article today. I’ll be back mid-to-late week with a summary of the bye week and where I think Notre Dame can evolve the most going into the second half of the season.

Through 7 games, Notre Dame’s linebackers have 0 sacks and 5 TFLs. In 2024, the LBs had 7 sacks and 24 TFLs, including 5 sacks and 19 TFLs from Bowen, Sneed, Ausberry and KVA. Same players, two more years of experience, different scheme, and significantly less havoc.

After a massively disappointing showing in Provo, there’s plenty of blame to go around. Assessing that blame, and trying to determine where Notre Dame goes from here. saturdayfromthestands.substa…

You might be asking, “What can I do about this? What can the University do about this?” To that I tell you, stay in line. Email your local rep (aka the ops guys I found emails for online). You can find said emails, too, with a simple Google search. saturdayfromthestands.substa…

The in-game entertainment has been on a steady decline for 5 years. We’ve got some solutions: 1. No more “We Will Rock You.” That intro is atrocious. Lean into Irish music, highlight videos 2. More opponent-specific highlight videos. ND Digital Media is outstanding. Let them work
Is Notre Dame Stadium's awkward in-game entertainment actually making the atmosphere worse? For years, everyone (rightfully) complained about the “wine and cheese” crowd hurting the stadium atmosphere. Now there’s a new problem — and it’s self-inflicted. We got a ton of Boots on the Ground feedback after Michigan State, and the theme was consistent: bad music, a boring light show and awkward timing. @ThatSmith15 and I did a deep dive into what’s gone wrong and how to fix it.

Notre Dame is 3-0. A lot of people still aren’t happy. We talk about the running game here, and why the conversation around it reminds us of the conversation around Riley Leonard and the passing game coming out of the Miami of Ohio game in ‘24. substack.com/@saturdayfromth…

This might look like a mundane throwaway, because it is. But to Notre Dame QBs coach Gino Guidugli, it was a sign of CJ Carr’s progress. Not a decision he makes in 2025. “That was one of my proudest moments,” Guidugli said. “He threw that ball away, like, that is growth.”

Notre Dame’s season opener gave us some answers about what the Irish might be this season, while leaving some other questions unanswered. My thoughts on a fun day in Green Bay and a 41-13 victory that some people are treating like a 41-13 defeat. saturdayfromthestands.substa…
