No. Permanent DST’s 9am sunrises forced children and workers to start days in pitch darkness all winter. It’s been tried and quickly repealed twice, with loss of life and money. Only permanent Standard Time can last safely.

Literally every thing you said here was flat-out wrong. It's almost impressive. Along with so many other reasons, Standard Time is aligned with our natural Circadian Rhythms, and is thus optimal for physical and mental health. Standard Time is Natural Time.

Permanent Standard Time ALL. THE. WAY. FACTS Humans evolved under the sun’s natural rhythm for hundreds of thousands of years. Here’s why permanent Standard Time is healthier and safer than locking in Daylight Saving Time: • Better circadian alignment: Morning light is the strongest signal for setting the body’s internal clock. Permanent Standard Time keeps more of that light in the morning year-round, while permanent DST shifts it later and leaves winter mornings darker. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and other major medical groups say Standard Time best matches human biology. • Improved sleep and health: Darker winter mornings under permanent DST delay sleep timing, reduce total sleep, and raise risks for obesity, mood issues, heart problems, and metabolic disorders. Modeling suggests permanent Standard Time would prevent more cases of obesity and stroke than permanent DST. • Safer mornings for kids and workers: In 1974 the U.S. tried year-round DST. Public support collapsed within weeks as children walked or waited for buses in pitch darkness; multiple fatal accidents were reported, and Congress repealed it after less than a year. Morning light reduces those risks. • Natural light when it matters most: Extra evening light under DST is convenient for some activities, but the body needs morning light more than evening light to stay synchronized. Permanent Standard Time preserves that without the twice-yearly clock changes that already disrupt sleep and raise short-term health risks. • Historical and expert consensus: Permanent DST has been tried and reversed before. Sleep researchers, chronobiologists, and medical organizations consistently favor ending the clock changes and staying on Standard Time because it is closer to solar time and better for long-term health and safety.

Today is Friday, Oct 23, 2026. This is the sky as @DuvalSchools staff were arriving to work at 5:59a EDT and kids were waiting on their busses in the UNF area at 6:00a EDT. Why do politicians want our kids waiting for school in the dark?? #DitchDST @SaveStandard @SenAshleyMoody @AngieNixon @SenRickScott @RepRutherfordFL

It’s monumentally stupid that people who want daylight savings time permanent don’t realize they’ve tried it several times in the past, and it was repealed quickly because it sucks

No sir we want our children SAFE!!!!! @SenRickScott I have been an activist for the conservative issues my entire adult life but on this i will fight YOU! You want one time fine choose standard. But me and my group of 2400, may not be huge but WE remember the children's deaths when Fl attempted that before. The only way to change it is to move school times out. The kids not coming home till 6-7 pm is not popular with schools, parents, or students. So I remind YOU of how bad it was... The United States tested year-round daylight saving time starting on January 6, 1974 (enacted by the Emergency Daylight Saving Time Energy and Conservation Act signed in December 1973. Fatal Accidents: Within the first two weeks of January 1974, eight children died in early-morning traffic accidents in Florida alone, that at least 14 children were killed in traffic accidents in 2 weeks! Public Backlash: Public approval for year-round daylight saving time plummeted from 79% before the law started to 42% by March 1974, showing that what sounds popular can turn quickly horrific quick when children die. Now, that was an untried issue in 1974, however if you succeed and it is implemented, your name will be tied for ever to those deaths. That is not hyperbolic it is unfortunately a fact. Yes I voted 3 times for President Trump but I oppose his idea of the day light savings time for simply money and golf vs the life of children. 1 death is TOO MANY, it was so bad that repeal was fast. Repeal: Due to safety concerns and public outrage, Congress voted to end the trial early, and President Gerald Ford signed a bill in October 1974 restoring seasonal time changes. We don't oppose a constant time line only the choice of daylight savings time. If the money saved by corporations is the reason, then change it to standard as our children are required by law to attent school.

@WhiteHouse @POTUS Mr. President, you are a very intelligent man and world leader. As a scientist and fellow medical provider, it’s vital to follow the science and human biology. I encourage the move to permanent Standard Time to be passed into law.
