Close! 55 of 60 written testimonies opposed permanent Daylight Saving Time and supported permanent Standard Time (as did 5 of 6 oral testimonies). But the committee chairs held back all permanent Standard Time legislation and advanced only permanent DST legislation. Texas Lege should lead the nation in the Arizona solution: permanent Standard Time in 2027!

Yes! Repeal permanent Daylight Saving Time (PDT, UTC–7), replace with permanent Standard Time (PST, UTC–8), for health, safety, and productivity, per @CanSleepSociety, @canadiansleep, @ChronobioCanada, and many more!

@LDoerkson ...Yep, 50+ years ago the US repealed their permanent Daylight Saving Time experiment. Please repeal it in BC. Take another survey that offers permanent STANDARD Time as an alternative. (The first one didn't.)
Yes! The TX Legislature got it backward in choosing permanent Daylight Saving Time last session (against the will of 90% of witnesses, who opposed it and asked for permanent Standard Time instead).
Only permanent Standard Time is federally approved; only permanent Standard Time is historically proven to last safely. Please file this draft bill, we and our supporters will testify in support! savestandardtime.com/legisla…

In 2018, Californians approved Prop 7, which gave the state legislature permission to choose either permanent Daylight Saving Time or permanent Standard Time.
In 2019, Assemblyman Chu filed AB-7 for permanent DST. It failed.
In 2022, Assemblyman Choi filed AB-2868 for permanent DST. It was defeated in a floor vote.
In 2024, 2025, and 2026, State Senator Roger Niello filed (respectively) SB-1413, SB-51, and SB-1197, all to ditch DST with permanent Standard Time. His first bill was rewritten by the Senate Energy Committee to become a study of permanent Standard Time, which Senate Appropriations Committee then suspended due to the fiscal impact of conducting a study. Niello’s second and third bill were approved by Energy without amendment, but they were also suspended by Appropriations, which made no sense, as they had no fiscal impact.
Also in 2026, Senator Niello filed SR-79 to recognize Sleep Health Week (including the sleep-health benefits of permanent Standard Time) and SCR-7 to acknowledge permanent Standard Time (not permanent DST) is best for health. Both resolutions succeeded (though resolutions do not change laws as bills do).
Please tell your state legislators now to try again for permanent Standard Time in 2027.

Yes, but only with healthful permanent Standard Time. Permanent DST is a mandate to wake earlier, sleep less, for poorer health and profits for retail and golf industries.

I am so ready for standard time. I hate daylight savings time.
Demand your state and federal legislators #DitchDST with permanent Standard Time, for balanced light all day, all year! savestandardtime.com/action/
Daylight Saving Time outside of summer makes mornings dark, depressing, and dangerous. Morning is when sunlight is most needed. Restore permanent Standard Time!
Ready for sunrises before 8am? Standard Time returns one week from today, meaning easier mornings, safer roads, and better health!
Ready for sunsets before 5 p.m.? 🌅 Daylight Saving Time ends one week from today, on Sunday, November 1, meaning most of the U.S. will turn clocks back one hour and say goodbye to daylight before dinner.
Here's a look at just how early the sun will set in cities across the country after the time change.

Americans rejoiced when permanent Daylight Saving Time was repealed and Standard Time’s natural morning sunlight was restored—on this weekend in 1974.

No. Permanent DST’s 9am sunrises forced children and workers to start days in pitch darkness all winter. It’s been tried and quickly repealed twice, with loss of life and money. Only permanent Standard Time can last safely.

Literally every thing you said here was flat-out wrong. It's almost impressive.
Along with so many other reasons, Standard Time is aligned with our natural Circadian Rhythms, and is thus optimal for physical and mental health.
Standard Time is Natural Time.
Our clocks change twice a year, but what does that mean for our health? Join us Oct. 27 to learn how seasonal time changes affect sleep, safety and productivity, and explore the case for Permanent Standard Time. 🔗 hubs.la/Q04BxQ8j0

Permanent Standard Time ALL. THE. WAY. FACTS
Humans evolved under the sun’s natural rhythm for hundreds of thousands of years. Here’s why permanent Standard Time is healthier and safer than locking in Daylight Saving Time:
• Better circadian alignment: Morning light is the strongest signal for setting the body’s internal clock. Permanent Standard Time keeps more of that light in the morning year-round, while permanent DST shifts it later and leaves winter mornings darker. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and other major medical groups say Standard Time best matches human biology.
• Improved sleep and health: Darker winter mornings under permanent DST delay sleep timing, reduce total sleep, and raise risks for obesity, mood issues, heart problems, and metabolic disorders. Modeling suggests permanent Standard Time would prevent more cases of obesity and stroke than permanent DST.
• Safer mornings for kids and workers: In 1974 the U.S. tried year-round DST. Public support collapsed within weeks as children walked or waited for buses in pitch darkness; multiple fatal accidents were reported, and Congress repealed it after less than a year. Morning light reduces those risks.
• Natural light when it matters most: Extra evening light under DST is convenient for some activities, but the body needs morning light more than evening light to stay synchronized. Permanent Standard Time preserves that without the twice-yearly clock changes that already disrupt sleep and raise short-term health risks.
• Historical and expert consensus: Permanent DST has been tried and reversed before. Sleep researchers, chronobiologists, and medical organizations consistently favor ending the clock changes and staying on Standard Time because it is closer to solar time and better for long-term health and safety.
