2nd on the PGA Tour in Driving Distance (326.1 yds). 2nd in Ball Speed (126.27 mph). Let's take a quick look at Michael Brennan's training: RFE Split Squats → Single-leg strength RFE Split Squat Jumps → Single-leg power Lateral Sled Pull → Strength in the frontal plane MB Shot Put + Band Rotations → Rotational power Single Leg/Single Arm Snatch → Power, coordination, balance (aka athleticism) Key takeaway: Train strength, power, and athleticism. Do it on one leg, and in all 3 planes of motion.

Another key, you don’t see Drake trying to force his back heel to rotate off the ground. This kills power in the golf swing. It’s something I see way too many people do bc they think that’s how it’s supposed to look. But if you look at tour players at impact, their back foot hasn’t rotated at all. And some players even still have their back heel on the ground.
Golfers: Med Ball Throws. This is a great exercise to teach you how the feet are suppose to work as well as prime your system for speed. Not may exercises translate to the course better than this one. The key it to get a med ball that is light enough you are able to drive from the ground and not just use your arms. You should feel all of the power come from your feet up. Notice my left leg is driving back, that is the ground force that will keep you from early extending.

A golfers training program needs to cover the entire spectrum. We need some general exercises that allow us to build strength (Heavy bilateral exercises). We need some specific exercises that allow us to build speed (Speed Swings). Finally we need exercises that fall in the middle of the spectrum (Unilateral and Multi-Planer exercises) Blend all of this together and you have a complete training program

This is why waterbags are an excellent tool for developing the fascial system. The unpredictability of the water moving around adds a ton of variety in every single rep. 📖excerpt from “fascia training in application”

The warm up is a great place to add 3D training into your program to help develop your fascial system. Here are a few exercises you can add to your warm up for your next training session or round of golf.

Most people train their core with light weights and high reps. If that's all you're doing, you're never building real core strength. Just like every other muscle group, your core needs to be loaded heavy. KB Dead Twists are one of my favorite ways to do it. From a seated position, pick the kettlebell up from one side and place it on the other. Let it come to a complete stop on the floor with each rep before lifting it again. Don't use momentum or bounce it off the ground. Train your core to produce force, not just survive long sets.

3 exercises to build upper body power + rotational speed for faster clubhead speeds. 💥⛳️ For each exercise: • 2–4 sets • 3–5 reps/side • Every rep = max intent • Perform them early in your workout while you’re fresh to maximize power output. Train fast. Swing fast. Hit it farther. 💪🏌️

How can we improve our movement quality in less than 5 mins a day? Try this quick 4 exercise routine Better mobility Better rotation Better golf Only a few mins a day can make a huge difference 🧵👇

3) Overhead Side Bends Start with feet a little wider than shoulder width apart and arms straight above your head. Laterally bend as far as you can each way. 10 reps on each side.

4) Kayaks Start with feet a little wider than shoulder width and club on your back Rotate like you are rowing a kayak forward for 10 reps, then switch and rotate backwards for 10 reps

Use these waterbag exercises to transfer strength in the weight room to speed on the golf course 💪🏌️‍♂️ ⬆️ Rotational Power ⬆️ Force Transfer ⬆️ Core Strength ⬆️ Coordination ⬆️ Stability Perform these exercises at full speed through full range of motion for 10 seconds Use about 5 lbs if water in the bag. You don’t need a lot of weight bc of the instability the water creates. That instability is what makes the exercises so effective and challenging

The issue is not squatting or deadlifting. The issue is when one strategy becomes overexpressed: rigid axial bracing, fixed pelvis and ribcage, high stiffness, and force produced from a stable base. That can make someone strong in that environment, but sports ask for something different. In sports, the athlete must create and redirect force while: • changing the base of support • reciprocating through the body • disassociating segments • managing rotation and cross-body tension • stabilizing reflexively without freezing the system Strength does not automatically transfer just because it exists. The nervous system has to learn how to organize and express that force through the specific demands of movement. Movement itself can become a source of stability and power. Instead of stability only coming from locking everything down, stability can emerge through tension, elasticity, timing, and cross-body connection as the athlete moves. We are not trying to make athletes less strong or less stable. We are expanding the ways they can create stability so their strength remains available while the body is moving, reorganizing, and transferring force. That is the distinction between possessing force and being able to express it precisely across the system.

Golfers, if you are weak in a specific movement pattern the best way to change that is by doing it twice a week. For example if you can Squat 300+ lbs, Bench 200+ lbs, but can’t do a pull up, you are probably leaving club head speed on the table. Fix that by doing pull ups twice a week. Use the assisted pull up machine, or bands for extra assistance. If neither of those are an option, do Lat Pull Downs. Also make sure your assistance work targets the Lats. DB Pull Overs and Straight Arm Pull downs are a few examples. Instead of avoiding exercises we don’t like, lean into them and do them more. Your golf game will thank you.

Two mobility exercises you can do every day to help you play better golf, and stay injury free Wall T-Spine Rotations Focus on pressing the yoga block into the wall, as you rotate your other arm as far back as you can 2) 90/90 Hip Switch Keep the logo on your chest facing straight forward as you rotate your legs side to side. You might not get your knees all the way to the ground right away. That’s ok, don’t force it. It will improve over time
