I have today written to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport about the future of the BBC.

Trade unionists have always stood against fascism. It's in our blood.
With Blackshirts marching again on our streets, we cannot allow hatred, intimidation and division to take hold.
Remember our history, learn its lessons and never let it be repeated.
I know it’s spoken about a lot, but phone signal is terrible in the UK, but as some who visits London every week it’s so much noticeably better in Liverpool than it is in London.
Replying to @KathyParr101
The current #tubestrike has nothing to do with pay, however, a decent pension in retirement should be the norm for all workers.
Punching down until we’re all left with nothing is a peculiar contemporary trait that will only lead to the return of the poor house and destitution.

Congratulations to the more than 10,000 @nynurses who spent weeks on the picket line fighting to win a fair deal that protects patients, respects nurses, and strengthens care across our city.
When working people organize, they win.

How many of the Tory & Lib Dem peers who voted against decent rights at work have been on a zero hours contract?
Or sacked unfairly.
Or struggled to pay bills because they didn’t get sick pay?
It’s easy to vote against rights for workers when you don’t have skin in the game.

Paul wants to know, why is Nigel Farage on the side of bosses over workers like him?

If billionaires can afford fleets of private yachts.
And day trips into space.
And weddings that shut down Venice.
They can pay a bit more tax.

The government has responded to the @CommonsCMS recommendations for the grassroots live sector, and has agreed that the industry should deliver a blanket levy on arena tickets. This would offer much-needed support to artists, promoters & venues.
We welcome this news.

When workers organise and win better working conditions, the majority of twitter replies to the news is often in the jealous / angry vibes realm rather than the - “how inspiring! maybe I should join / organise within / become active within a trade union!?”
Join a union. 💪

Kemi Badenoch is one of the most nasty & divisive figures in British politics.
From downplaying racism to Islamophobic remarks like "not all cultures are equally valid" & questioning why Sadiq Khan gets a “free pass” for being Muslim, her election marks a shift to the far-right.

As part of #NationalAlbumDay, I visited Kempston Street Studios to celebrate the very best of British music and the incredible legacies of Great British groups.
Thanks to Chris and the team who talked me through the development process of Blossoms’ new Number 1 album, Gary 🎶
