I strongly recommend Beyond Compare. In an old studio we'd use this over p4diff and it has a lot of nice options, like comparing local vs ftp folders and good image diffs scootersoftware.com/features…

How are you deploying to your FTP? grab a copy of Beyond Compare 4 from scootersoftware.com/download… & hook it up to your local & FTP, then press the Rules button at the top, then check Compare Contents. See if it finds anything not as expected :)

I did a comparison of visual diffing tools today because I recently prepared a huge, mostly-whitespace PR (github.com/wincent/liferay-p…) — 500+ files changed, 17k lines added, 15k lines removed — and it is really hard to eyeball what actually changed. /1

Only in a Silicon Valley metro, one can find someone performing Git Merge from their mobile phones. And, it's fast! Person kept doing code moves from left to right and finished 300 LOC code merge between 3 stations.
Such a visual treat. 😍

Beyond Compare goes so far beyond a basic diff. In fact, I probably use it more for diffing file trees than I do for diffing text files, although I use it for that a lot, too. Go to scootersoftware.com/ and see all it can do.

Git didn’t click for me until I found a good mergetool and diffing tool. It really is nice when merge conflicts are no big deal and the power of diffing branches became a great tool for reviewing prs.

Beyond Compare is the best code comparison tool I've ever used. I use it daily. Great for moving code fixes between projects. The colors help a lot for high precision work too. Thanks @ScooterSoftware! #webdev #qa #tools

Lots of folk are just using a regular editor to resolve the conflict markers by hand. 😱

Man, @ScooterSoftware Beyond Compare 4 is just *so much better* at merging files/dealing with conflicts than any of the more standard/common diff/merge tools. I'll often go from having a terrifying merge conflict mess in @GitKraken etc. to a MAGICALLY resolved merge in BC4! 😻

Once again - Beyond Compare made resolving a complicated git rebase simple. Seriously the best diff tool on the planet: scootersoftware.com/

I use Beyond Compare for Hex diff (and other diffs), it can do single files or libraries. Has lots of nice options.

I've done 3 now. Coding by beyond compare. First I updated template so had good base reference. Then using template I create new project then beyond compare until working.

'Manual block realignment' (aka F7) - is one of the many unique advantages of BC.
The only exception is diffuse.sourceforge.net/, which hasn't been updated since 2014.
Add various filtering, diff context, functional and convenient UI.
So - no, no alternatives to @ScooterSoftware
