Here's a web development trend I can get behind
Replying to @ericnormand
Haha.. I'm starting to see folks asking for developers to "un-spa" their app and make real pages in their app.

Unexpectedly I find that I am available for hire, either as an FT remote employee or for corporate training sessions. Please DM me if you are interested in working together.

Is there a way of preventing GitHub from allowing pushes to any branches other than master? I want to enforce trunk-based development.

So sad to read this 😢. Whenever I read about a software service I like hopping on the venture capital train to unicorn-ville, I fully expect them to go to shit. 1PW now need to beome a many billion dollar company OR DIE TRYING. That usually lead to desperate/shitty decisions.

Only 90s kids will remember when Evernote was pretty great, before they raised a total of $290 million and ruined their product by focusing on things that weren’t core to the experience to justify their unicorn valuation. But, nah, that would never happen to 1Password.

Possibly dumb question: in what other fields aside from software development is the same role responsible for (1) designing, (2) building, and (3) maintaining a thing?

I have a few positions in my Developer Platform team at @Meetup If you want to: - work for a product thathelps people gather and do shit IRL - build microservices infrastructure the same way we build products - NYC or remote Send an email to my Twitter handle @ meetup dot com – at Manhattan, NY
A site I recently launched for a client is doing ~$200k a month in revenue, powered by a $7 a month Heroku instance. That also means basically $0 of operational overhead. Nice reminder that while Lambda, Kubernetes, etc. are cool and fun, they're also not always necessary.

A number of people asked me what projects, what code, what open source I did over the long holiday. ZERO. I did squat. I played video games, in fact. A bunch of them. I felt a little guilty then I got over it. hanselman.com/blog/TheFunOfF…

This is a great thread, I'd aim this at all engineers. I saw another tweet last year like "the best engineers write incredible Google docs" and I'd echo that too as I read this. Communication (verbal, team, RFCs, etc.) and kindness are more important than pure technical chops
Thread for Junior Developers/Engineers: Bad news - the ability to be a master/elite coder is only the first step in your career 😞 You'll soon find that coding is the easy part. Some of the hard parts - if you want to progress as a software engineer/developer - are:

Please RT if you aren't new to tech but still get the "Imposter syndrome" amidst all your experience. Having people Realize their favorites/mentors/role model also go through that, helps a lot on their tech journey and personal development.
