As Labour leader, Starmer’s role was essentially pest control: He was installed as head of a party that has historically pretended to belong to a species of socialism, and was tasked with disinfecting Labour of any threat it might genuinely embody that ideology.

It should not need to be spelled out, but Starmer and his backers have shown time and again that it still does — if the mythic Overton window shifts to the right, and you obligingly follow suit, it will simply move further toward that extreme, and reward only the tip of the spear. Those in the U.S. who saw Kamala Harris struck mute on trans rights and blind in the face of genocide in Gaza know too well the stakes of “moderating” to the right in the interest of “consensus.” interc.pt/3SwJDyV

No, this misses the entire point of writing and creativity in general. Obviously for certain rote informational copy this is possible (though it is currently bad at much of this) but for any high level writing the human expression is the point. It’s the entire WHY of the exchange
Unfortunately, I think that in the near future, not using LLMs to write for you will be like someone refusing to use Google Maps for directions in a new city. A bizarre idiosyncratic choice that's just completely incomprehensible to the vast majority of people.

Unfortunately, this strategy only ever worked in Blazing Saddles.
Trump: Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.

Wow it’s almost like there was a deeply engaged protest movement by college students 2yrs ago that was the largest in 50yrs and the publication you work for—along with every other major outlet—smeared them as antisemites, then they were all systematically kicked out of school.
A lot of the problems in the world right now can be explained by this video. For one thing, it’s a big reason why the US government is so unaccountable to public opinion. These are *college students.* A significant amount of the country is totally checked out and comfortable enough not to think it matters.

It was a giant wooden horse
Trump on Iranian leaders: "They're gonna make a deal. They did something yesterday that was amazing actually. They gave us a present, and the present arrived today. It was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money. I'm not gonna tell you what that present is but it was very significant prize."

Is it enough that Mayor Mamdani recorded a video detailing how Ireland's own anti-colonial history is a foundation for a larger emancipatory worldview where people's right to self-determination and not subjugation is the highest form of expression? No! hellgatenyc.com/come-out-ye-…

Absolute definition of saying the quiet part out loud. Anyone confused by the meekness of European leaders in the face of this insane war – a war that is not in any way compatible with European interests – should consider the statement below.
