Seattle Schools had ample time to prepare for a strike and find a way to feed students at City-owned buildings, as happened in 2015. Instead they chose to offer these meals inside school buildings, forcing thousands of families to cross a picket line in order to feed their kids.

There are important school levies on the ballot across King County right now. Please remind your friends and coworkers that ballots are due by February 8. Here are 3 great ways for union members to support the Seattle Levies:
"Nurses set the record straight about the root cause of the nursing crisis: chronic understaffing by profit-driven hospitals that predates the pandemic." If you watch one thing today, make it this. Our healthcare workers need #SafeStaffing NOW. nyti.ms/32dV70o

Your kid can have a frustrating, unusually challenging, and potentially less-accessible-than-typical 5 more months of remote learning or someone can be dead who didn't have to be. 5 months vs Irreparable loss of life. #DemandSafeSchools #IsThereAPlan #SEAStrong

The family survey in early January was misleading. Two days a weeks is NOT THE SAME as a return to in-person-full-time. Where's the equity in that? #DemandSafeSchools #SEAStrong @liza_rankin @LisaRiveraSmith @HampsonNeah

The January survey was misleading. Two days a week is not the same as full time return to in person learning. Teachers will not be fully vaccinated. Students may be reassigned. @SeaPubSchools @SeattleSupt #seastrong

A return to in person school needs to be: Safe. Well-planned. Equitable. Transparent. Involve all voices. March 1st is none of this. @SeattleSupt @SeaPubSchools #seastrong

March 1st for back to school in person is arbitrary. Bargain in good faith with @SeattleEdAssoc. We need @seattleschools to stop creating even more stress for teachers and parents and be transparent! #SEAStrong #DemandSafeSchools @seattleschools @SeattleSupt @SeaPubSchools
