I hereby officially announce my candidacy for President of the United States as a Republican in the 2028 election.
Sure, I'm 22, an anarchist, a Chinese citizen, and on a student visa, but, as Malatesta said, "Impossibility never prevented anything from happening."

Don Lavoie is a name that should be more widely remembered among liberal political economists. His life sadly was cut short by cancer, yet his legacy lived on in his students as well as the record of his written work. Last night one of those former students of Don - Virgil Storr - delivered a brilliant talk on Markets as Emancipators. Don stressed this point in his teaching and in personal conversation. I discuss this in my The Struggle for a Better World as well. Virgil’s talk was perhaps the best example I have seen delivering the core Lavoie message about markets as liberators from oppression.

Hayek biographer and brilliant historian of economics and penetrating critical analyst of the methodology of economic science, Bruce Caldwell giving the final keynote of 2926 Markets and Society conference. Over 400 participants from all over the world sharing ideas and discussing deep conceptual issues at the heart of the humanities and social sciences. Just an amazing intellectual enterprise and experience. Economics as a tool for the curious!
John Hasnas: Locke's idea of natural rights of life, liberty, and property comes from what common law already delivered.
John Hasnas: Everything governments do was done before by individuals. Individuals do them first, and then governments take them over.
I'm way too tired. I've already skipped the evening keynote address. I think I'm going to skip dinner too and get some rest.
Pauline Dixon makes a fascinating point: In India, individuals of lower social castes are routinely turned away and/or placed at the end of the queue by government hospitals and clinics. So, private entrepreneurs have started their own hospitals and clinics to serve lower castes.
Fun fact: the first people I saw after getting out of the car were literally Cory Massimino and his wife Kelly. They both remember me from last year (and, maybe, also from some of our exchanges on X).
