This is a smaller point, but as a transit rider who uses multiple agencies, I cannot stress the convenience of having a singular fare paying system. If LA Metro drops TAP, then that leaves other city transit agencies to implement their own. Right now it's centralized.
When LA Metro gave up on collecting and enforcing fares, Jeff Bezos didn't pay the bill. The military didn't pay. The LAPD didn't pay. Caltrans didn't pay. Riders paid, by receiving worse transit service. We pay either way. Might as well make transit better instead of worse.

I can ride @ladottransit's Dash/Commuter Express, and transfer to @PasadenaTransit with such ease all because @metrolosangeles has centralized a payment system for all everyone. Removing that would suck so much.

Claiming the DSA-LA did not have a DSA-LA alternative is just false. Huang (a totally unserious candidate) was literally the reason the DSA-LA didn’t endorse Nithya in the primary — her people blocked the vote. Here was a DSA straw poll: Nithya Raman: 49.8% Rae Huang: 41.7%
The problem with opposition to Nithya is that no one bothered running an alternative and now we are stuck with her or a disgusting Zionist extremist who is working with the Ellisons. To me the fact that Nithya had the will to actually run is worth more than your unread substacks.

Rae Huang ran without knowing a damned thing about our city. Would've been in charge of four LA Metro seats and couldn't tell the difference between LA Metro and LADOT. Also seemed to be against matching funds bc she never read the candidate handbook for election rules.

Pratt voters should look at this: A) If Bass wins she will have a City council that will do anything she wants and will continue enabling her corruption B) Nithya win will have a City council that can’t stand her and will give her nothing. Tell me those aren’t facts?
I ask @KarenBassLA about voters who supported @RickCarusoLA & @spencerpratt and don't like her performance...but are worried about @nithyavraman? Bass: "Vote for me! You know what you're getting!" Me: "They would say that they don't like what they've gotten?" Bass: "It's a binary choice here. You can go with the unknown. The inexperienced. The new to L.A. The person who is OK with encampments being in front of schools and doesn't like police. Or you can go with the leader who is tried, true, honest...who has made mistakes, absolutely made mistakes but is ready to continue to lead." Via @CNNTheStoryIs

This is misinformation from an actual gov't agency. Cool.
There has been a lot of misinformation lately about the status of SkyLink. As we work 24/7 to get the train open, we want to clear a few things up.

😭 I don't think these are accurate @LACountyRRCC Is the mobile center somewhere else outside of Dodger stadium?
The @lacountyrrcc has (with several days notice this time) posted the schedule for the mobile and flex vote centers online. Since the Dodgers aren't in the World Series October 25 and 29 at Dodger Stadium or November 1 at SoFi stadium are options.

I think I got someone who is very car-focused on board with bike lanes. All I had to say was "look, there are bikers in LA. It's illegal for them to bike on the street. So the options are they get their own lane, or they bike in front of you and slow you down"

By street I mean sidewalk. I did say sidewalk.

Suddenly bike lanes were good

Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century. This Saturday is October 24, 2026. Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears: 10² + 24² = 26² 100 + 576 = 676 But here’s what makes today special. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar. Using the rule month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)², the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century. Today is the last. The next will be March 4, 2105: 3² + 4² = 5² That is a wait of more than 78 years. An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar. Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.
