The point of the GOP is to act as a simulacrum of a right wing party that occupies its niche in the US political spectrum while rejecting, suppressing and undermining the right wing social values that place the wellbeing of the nation state before private or foreign interests.

Immigration policy must be driven by the present, not the past, and business leaders are too terrified of the left AND the right to acknowledge this. Recent H1B discourse revolves around a longstanding immigration sleight-of-hand. H1B proponents point to exceptional people who came here decades ago as if they represent the current state of the program in the same way that advocates for low-skill/illegal immigration point to very favorable immigrant crime/welfare/education/etc statistics that do, in truth, have them beating native-born Americans on many fronts. It is all a sham. The world that created those statistics, people, and businesses no longer exists. Brilliant but desperate Vietnamese fathers who fled communism have nothing in common with young men from Honduras, and the crime rates/economic acccomplishments/integration of the former should not be used to justify mass migration of the latter. Nor should the accomplishments of people who managed to get an H1B visa in the 90s (when the program was capped to just 65,000 visas) be used to justify staffing agencies and tech companies using the program to replace American jobs for less money. The obvious abuse going on is politically suicidal and something that even the most ardent supporters of the visa should want to crack down on, no immigration program can possibly survive the obvious and widely known reality of what is going on. I am a longtime outspoken advocate for stealing the best people from other countries to make our own better, runaway abuse of existing programs robs the government of the worker trust required to do so. Lots of people in the tech space know this. Even the dumb people are smart enough to see it. Nobody actually believes these are all incredible people with unique talents performing jobs no American can. Everyone knows the guy in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers is no savant and doesn't meet the statutory requirements for his H-1B visa. Unfortunately, most people with power or profile are terrified that any public statement or acknowledgement will get them attacked by the right (You guys have been screwing over American workers for years with visa abuse, you damn hypocrite!) or the left (You are racist, sexist, misogynist, and sucking up to this fascist administration!). Or, more likely, both. I know too many tech execs in particular who feel trapped, like the only winning move is to stay silent. JD is blowing the whole thing wide open by putting facts and stats front and center that nobody wants to engage with. Critics will talk about anything and everything else but these damning facts and this obvious truth, that H1B visas serve neither their original purpose, legal purpose, invented purpose, or the American people.
Vice President JD Vance breaks down the data: "If you are working as an H-1B visa in the United States of America, you’re earning $20,000 less than an American citizen hired in the same position. If you were brought in by one of these foreign outsourcing firms, you’re making $48,000 less than an American citizen in a similar position. So I’m sure that everybody here understands the game that is being played. You bring in indentured servants from outside the country, you lay off American workers and, if you’re a corporation, you make a ton of money by under cutting the wages of American workers, replacing them with people who frankly shouldn’t be in the United States of America to begin with."

Say what you will. They organize as a group, you don't, they pursue their collective interests based on identity, you don't, they intuitively understand what side they are on, you don't. The result is that Somalis, as a group, have more political representation than whites.
Mogadishu? Nope. This is a real "get out the vote" ad in Minnesota.

My Fellow Countrymen, With profound concern do I behold the spectacle of foreign counsels being solicited, and their methods imported, to direct the elections of these United States. In the parting counsel I offered to the people, I warned that “against the insidious wiles of foreign influence the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake,” for history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government. To treat our own Republic as though it were a distant dependency requiring “assisted transitions,” and to prepare for meltdown or crisis as a pretext for structural overhaul of the Constitution itself, is to invite the very disorders our fathers labored to prevent. The Constitution, framed by their wisdom and ratified by the people, is the fixed foundation of our Union; it is not to be set aside by the schemes of factions or the advice of outsiders who once operated under our own exported designs. Let vigilance remain our watchword, the laws our sure guide, and the virtue of our citizens our strength. May Providence preserve our independence and the blessings of liberty under the government we have established. G. Washington

I'm old enough to remember Ukraine before February 2022. Before the great PR makeover. Before billions in British public money started flowing. Before the swastikas were quietly airbrushed out of the picture and yesterday's neo-Nazi problem became today's inconvenient history. Back in January 2015, Ross Kemp travelled to Ukraine for his Extreme World documentary series, investigating the rise of the far right and the Azov Battalion, including its neo-Nazi elements and symbolism. This was British mainstream television, not Russian propaganda. Funny how quickly history gets rewritten when the geopolitical interests change and the public chequebook comes out. Of course, Ukraine's corruption, extremist movements and internal divisions didn't magically disappear in February 2022. But suddenly, mentioning what British journalists had openly reported for years was enough to get you branded a Kremlin sympathiser. Well, here's Ross Kemp reporting from Ukraine in 2015, long before the political rebranding. No Russian bots. No Kremlin script. Just the history they would rather you didn't remember.

A corollary of HBD is that striverism is a massively negative-sum game. Your ability to do your job is mostly about innate talent. Sure, you have to know specific things. But that’s not difficult. Grinding SAT problems is just waste. This is not to say Asian or Jewish advantage is just about striving, it’s not. I believe in g. What it means is striving is, if anything, an even greater tragedy for these groups. Koreans kill themselves after exams. They spend their whole youth grinding. And it doesn’t matter at all. It’s just negative-sum relative status competition. They’ll be exactly as good at their eventual real world jobs as they would be if they didn’t manically memorize geometry problems. Asia needs this message more than anyone. You can let your kids be kids. It won’t change their brains. I don’t want my own culture consumed by this ridiculous unscientific fever. And before anyone cries “cope” I maxxed the GRE (without studying).

“You don’t study for the spelling bee” is a deep and important aspect of American culture. I was at a baseball game discussing some young players with a buddy one time and he said to me offhandedly, “hard work is fine, but nothing beats talent.” Americans have this sort of sense that there’s something a little off about working really hard to get good at something that you’re not naturally good at. You’re never really going to be on the same level as the guy who has a natural talent. We have room in our hearts for scrappy little guys who work hard, but we are by default suspicious of grinders and strivers. If you were really meant to do it, then you’d be naturally good at it. You sign your kids up for little league, but you don’t take it too seriously unless they show remarkable early talent. Yes, this sounds sort of ridiculous if you take it too literally. No, nobody is saying that there’s any kind of practical test for this or that anybody should be excluded because we found out that they secretly studied too hard. But this is a part of American culture. And if you can’t understand it, then that just marks you out as foreign to that culture to an even greater degree.

Does a nation, its laws, its institutions, its economy, its rulers… owe special favor to the well-being of its own people over that of the rest of the world? Simplest test of political legitimacy imaginable. And yet many, even on the nominal right, can’t pass it.

Cernovich risked prison and assassination for being one of the public right-wing figures during the peak Woke era when everything was going insane. Honestly people taking shots at Cernovich on this are being ingrates. I don't agree with Cernovich's stance on the midterms, but I think people are forgetting how much he sacrificed back when it was financially ruinous and physically dangerous in a real way. It was a crazy time back then and everyone forgets how intensely we were all being persecuted and hunted down. Biden was sending the FBI into Catholic churches. Douglass Mackey was being threatened with prison. Alex Jones was bankrupted. Charlie Kirk ended up getting assassinated. President Trump almost got assassinated. Andy Ngo was beaten repeatedly. Any right-wing Twitter account with more than 10,000 followers was getting doxxed. Antifa were constantly making threats and beating people up in the streets. There was a Woke transgender assassination attempt on Brett Kavanaugh in 2022. Cernovich also had a successful documentary "Hoaxed" which he lost a lot of upside on, idk how much money, whether it was hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. But Cernovich had a genuine guerilla marketing hit film on his hands, and it got pulled and suppressed. Nobody has ever compensated him for that. Trump got a film deal for his wife Melania, there are all kinds of donations flowing into Trump world for crypto and the ballroom, but a lot of the Trump footsoldiers ended up being used as cannon fodder. Or at least, that's how they feel about it. These guys were with Trump since 2015 and they sacrificed a decade of their lives and now they watch Dario and Zuckerberg getting rich. President Trump tried to create a victims fund to reimburse his supporters who were bankrupted by Democrat lawfare. Senate Republicans blocked it and shut it down earlier this year. So really I blame the Republican Senate for this. Democrat operatives like Michael Moore, who are mediocre at best, make tens of millions of dollars for making Left-wing documentaries. On our side, they get almost nothing because there's a lack of distribution, and then until recently right-wing art was being intensely censored. You can earn millions of dollars as a mediocre Leftist artist. You can be a creative genius like MeinGottNiles , or ZeroHPLovecraft, or Bronze Age Pervert, and nobody on our side will offer you any kind of help, promotion, sinecures. We're doing everything for free, and Leftists have a $2 trillion annual patronage network. It's asymmetrical. Leftists take care of their footsoldiers in a way we don't have the budget to do. My friend Duck Enlightenment missed out on tens of millions of dollars he could've earned after he got canceled at the beginning of the Woke era. Maybe one guy helped him over a ten year period. And he had a lot of rich, connected friends. It sounds crazy, but the way Charlie Kirk got assassinated could've happened to 50 other high-profile right wing figures. There was no way to know who would be the first victim. Everyone knew it was dangerous to be a prominent conservative. They didn't know who the next target would be. Cernovich is a guy who really sacrificed and bled for us and he has a right to be angry about it, even if I don't agree with what he's saying on the midterms. I feel like we need to have some kind of institutional memory of the fact there were guys who came before us and took a lot of risks and paved the way for what we're doing right now. We can criticize them on the substance but we should still have some kind of loyalty or appreciation for what they contributed when it was a painful uphill battle.
Just so you know, most people in the influencer sphere, genuinely believed that because they posted Pro-Trump stuff in 2024, they would be given $200k government jobs.

None of the BoomerCon “I love the Constitution more than life itself” people on here have ever actually read anything the men who wrote it said. They have zero interest in 18th Century American political thought. It’s all a LARP. They wear the Founders as a skin suit to defend the Warren Court and Civil Rights revolution. You want to know why we cannot have a Christian America? Not because of the Founding Fathers. Because after nearly 200 years, Earl Warren declared anything officially Christian by the government illegal and the Civil Rights Act banned any freedom of association for Christians. THAT is “the Constitution” these people want to preserve.

Or put more bluntly, when you occupy the upper tier of cultural capital, what do you think a more equal society looks like? It looks like downward mobility for your kids. Some people can stomach that, more can't, but ultimately that's the choice.

Why are people continually shocked at the existence of sincere religious differences? Jews think Jesus was a liar, Christians think Ganesh is a demon, Scientologists think all other religions are evil tricks by alien ghosts or whatever. Not all religions are universalist John Lennon slop. Sometimes people really mean it, which necessarily means thinking people of other religions (or none) are deeply, profoundly wrong about the most important issue in existence. Saying this should be unacceptable is tantamount to saying religious sincerity should be unacceptable.
I’m sort of shocked at how many people think “it’s nothing personal but I think you worship a monkey demon” isn’t an insulting stance. Especially people who should realize there is nothing more personal than faith.

TALES OF GRIMWICKE — Chapter I is 22 minutes of AI fantasy animation inspired by the many anthropomorphic animal stories I read as a kid, with a dark twist: The model: Seedance 2.5 (@ByteDanceSeed_ ) via @Segmind_ai. 847 takes generated, mostly 30-second multi-shot prompts, over 5 hours of footage. 127 clips made the cut. About $4.5k in generation, four weeks from first take to publish. Characters and locations came out of @midjourney. Using MJ for the location plates was a revelation: the cinematography and art direction are a level above, and it renders far better as a plate than Nano Banana or GPT Image. Nano Banana (@GoogleDeepMind run on @fal) did the heavy lifting editing those plates, building anchor frames and turning MJ characters into turnaround sheets. Then I let Seedance do as much of the framing and camera operating as possible. That gave the best results. A lot of what I do in my Unreal Engine films came with me: a handheld, imperfect camera operator instead of smooth moves, focus hunting, and above all weather and atmospherics. The model does water, snow, smoke and rain really well, and leaning into that is what keeps it from looking like a Temu Pixar film. The tools I built: a portal (Node on @flydotio) that holds the bible, the refs, every prompt and every take, with a Claude agent (@claudeai) that writes the prompts to the house rules. A Premiere Pro (@AdobeVideo) panel that browses the archive, drops selects on the timeline, versions the project, strips music, and sends fixes back to Seedance. Everything is done in 720p with no upscaling, because it looks terrible. Narration is my own voice through @ElevenLabs speech-to-speech. Music from @Artlist_io. None of this would exist without @PJaccetturo and @Kavanthekid. Their narrative work, Nexus and Chronicles of Bone, proved long-form AI film was possible, and their podcasts, newsletters and X posts, updated constantly as the workflow changes under everyone's feet, showed how to actually do it. Chapter II is currently in the works and I will release it initially on my YouTube channel, The Darkest Age (@CharlieDriscollAI). Consider subscribing there to see it as soon as it drops!

Precisely C.S. Lewis's point in The Screwtape Letters: the enemy doesn't need to ruin you, he only needs to distract you. Screwtape finds that a reliable way to lead a patient to hell is to distract him with jargon, for instance. Have the patient evaluate ideas not by their content but by their labels ensures that he never engages meaningfully with their content. Another method is to fix his attention on the "stream of immediate sense experiences," so that his mind is drawn away from universal issues and he no longer thoughtfully engages with things that matter. The path to hell is not so much paved by grand sins than it is by small, constant distractions from what really matters. The path to goodness begins with reclaiming your attention, and turning your eyes from the endless stream. Wasting time "doomscrolling" is not neutral. It distracts you from doing good in the world.
Simone Weil’s greatest insight was that attention is the foundation of morality and that letting your attention span degrade is the first step on the road to hell

Sometimes the way you make the world a better place is to raise your kids well, work to do your job well, pay your taxes, maintain your property, obey the law, be a good neighbor, be courteous and polite in public, inform yourself and vote responsibly, repay your debts, and save for the future. Most of the mischief in the world is caused by conscious “activists” and “activism.”
