Not everyone knew these brokers existed, much less how to recognize the warning signs. These were people who went to a platform believing they were supporting artists and commissioning art ethically. They were trying to do the right thing and were deceived. Some people may initially feel defensive or embarrassed when they realize they were fooled, and it can be difficult to admit that. We should respond by educating people about the warning signs rather than shaming them for being scammed.
