Total domination by the Terps🐢 tonight, as it should have been…. The run game was LIGHT years better tonight than at any point last season. But I’m sorry, Malik is NOT the stud program changer we hoped he would be. All the same struggles as last year that I wrote off as “freshman nerves and quirks” are still there. The kid is everything you want in a QB to lead your team off the field…. But the simple on field tasks of a QB he struggles with. Consistently throwing behind guys or far off target… he gets happy feet and doesn’t set himself… terrible decision making… even struggles with his behind the line check downs…. In fairness, he made a few throws that his WR’s weren’t ready for or just plain lost the ball… and he made 2-3 legit throws over the middle. But that was about it. Not the “next big thing” that we were sold on. And it was night and day the difference in the pass game when Cordell came in. I so badly want to see the kid succeed and live up to all the hype, but to still be struggling with these simple things and against a soft defense like Hampton is frustrating and very alarming.
