The passenger is right, if the driver had reached the bus stop and he refuse to pay as agreed then, he can drag his boxers and panama fila, but as it stands, the deal is null and void.
This one happened this morning. I had to leave them there arguing. I was rushing for my BRT appointment to Palmgrove. Couldn’t wait.
I boarded a keke napep feom my estate gate to the bus stop. Met a passenger inside, that made us two.
Then a very young guy taking his three siblings to school rushed towards the napep. He needed two at the back but the only two seats available were the last one at the back since we were two already seated and the one beside the driver in front. He spoke rudely to the driver like he expected him to clear one of us to the front so he could take two seats at the back. This angered the man I met in the napep. He angrily told the napep driver to move, that he will pay for the two spaces remaining. Fare from my estate gate is 300 Naira.
I hated the rudeness and I was happy there’s now space for me to spread my legs.
As we moved, we kept talking about the boy and how Nigerian parents are failing at teaching their children courtesy and respect.
On the way, the keke man picked two passengers. Nobody complained. Then we got to the bus stop. The two new passengers paid 200 Naira each because that’s the price from where they were picked. The other man gave him 1k, expecting 700 Naira change, only to be given 500 Naira. Wahala began.
Customer: Where is my remaining 200 Naira.
Driver: Oga, you talk say you go pay for the two seats. I didn’t want you to pay full 600 Naira for the seats, that’s why I carried the two passengers so it can reduce to 200 Naira.
Me: who sent you work? The moment you picked those passengers, the deal became void.
He no gree, the other man no gree, my BRT appointment was almost over, I had to rush.
