"The reason we lost is the war," Vice President JD Vance wrote, adding, "If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest." to.pbs.org/3UxPV2K

President Donald Trump agreed Wednesday that it was "largely true" the war in Iran played a role in the Republican Party's losses in this week's midterm elections. "The reason we lost is the war," Vice President JD Vance said in a social media post earlier Wednesday. The president said that while gas prices rose as a result of the war he launched earlier this year, "at the same time, if I had to do it again, I'd have to do it again because long term it's the only answer. You can't let Iran have a nuclear weapon." Democrats won control of both the House and Senate after sweeping victories across the country, including in Texas, South Carolina and Ohio. Trump, speaking as he showed off ongoing construction for the White House ballroom project he started, told reporters he will "get along probably with the Democrats unless they want to be destructive."

Democrat Abdul El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers to win Michigan's open Senate seat. He'll be the first Muslim to serve in the U.S. Senate. "They tried to confuse you, so let me just set the record straight," El-Sayed said during his victory speech early Wednesday. "I love America," he said. "I know exactly what America gave to me." The former public health official, who lost his bid in the state's 2018 gubernatorial primary, beat out party-backed Rep. Haley Stevens this summer in the Democratic primary.

I am deeply grateful to the people of Mississippi's Second Congressional District for once again placing their faith and trust in me to represent them in Congress for an 18th term. I do not take that responsibility lightly, and my commitment to standing up for your interests and ensuring that the voices of Mississippians are heard in Washington remains unchanged.

Democrats will now control the House and Senate and be able to hold Trump accountable. That's great. At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, we must do more. We must aggressively fight for working families. No more excuses.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Women Soul of the Nation Georgia voters elected eight Black women to help lead our state. Their work will touch our lives every day, from how we educate our children and protect voting rights to what families pay to keep the lights on. I’m celebrating these women and the people who organized, registered voters and showed up to make these victories possible. Congratulations to Georgia’s newly elected leaders: Keisha Lance Bottoms, governor Tanya Miller, attorney general Penny Brown Reynolds, secretary of state Katherine E. Juhan-Arnold, commissioner of agriculture Nikki Porcher, commissioner of labor Lydia Powell, state school superintendent Keisha Sean Waites, insurance commissioner Shelia Edwards, Public Service Commission, District 5 I pray that you use the power entrusted to you to protect people’s rights, make their lives better and serve every Georgian with dignity and care. #WomenSoulOfTheNation #GeorgiaHistory #BlackWomenLead #PublicService

The Tennessee Republicans at the suggestion of President Trump, Gerrymandered TN9 ( my district) seeking a 9-0 republican delegation. Tennessee is still 8-1 as in their redistricting zeal they politically harmed the Republican incumbent in Tn4 and he lost. So they spent 3 to $4 million of taxpayer money on a special session and election expenses and still ended up 8-1 and besides screwing me and my constituents (which I know they enjoyed) they screwed one of their own. Screw them!

The current Supreme Court is responsible for the greatest loss of rights this nation has ever known. On Nov, 10th, 2025, without any fanfare, SCOTUS refused to overturn Maine's Supreme Court's ruling that a person committing battery against another member of society is shielded under the PREP Act. Battery is defined as "the intentional, unlawful physical contact with another person without their consent." If we, the American people, do not have the right to sue someone who injures us through nonconsensual conduct, then the Constitution is dead on arrival. On September 28th, SCOTUS gets another shot at redemption. Update coming on Wednesday.

This is what a rigged economy looks like: Today, we have more income and wealth inequality than at any time in American history, worse than the “Gilded Age” of Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan and Carnegie. Today, the top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom 90% and one man, Mr. Musk, owns more wealth than the bottom 50% of American households. Not acceptable. We can, and must, create an economy that works for all, not just the few.
