Freedom of religion and belief for British Sikhs is under threat with the government backed ‘anti-Muslim’ hostility definition
We are compelled to pursue judicial review due to the government's actions and their expected effect on British Sikhs and other faith groups' ability to practice their beliefs

Our Director, Lord Singh of Wimbledon's contribution in @UKHouseofLords debate earlier this week on - UK-US Discussions: Reducing International Tension
'Does the Minister agree that a person who constantly attacks the UN, sanctions members of the International Criminal Court and acts like a cheap market trader constantly looking for deals—even to the extent of helping Russia in its aggression against Ukraine—cannot help the move towards peace? Does she further agree that a foreign policy that divides countries into friends and enemies is seriously dated, and that instead we should be looking to what Sikhs call Sarbat da bhala—the wider interests of wider humanity?'

Liz Carr asks "If you saw someone about to jump from a bridge, would you just stand by?". The answer is no, but, sadly, not many think so when it comes to assisted suicide. 🤔

I was keen to watch the BBC documentary Being Muslim After 9/11 not least because I anticipated reference to the first person killed in retribution for 9/11, Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh gas station owner from Mesa, Arizona.
His murderer, Frank Silva Roque, was clear on his intent when he told a waiter, 'I’m going to go out and shoot some towel heads.' The Sikh turban and beard are conflated by ignorant bigots with the attire of Osama bin Laden and the black turban-clad misogynists of the Taliban.
Muslims have indeed suffered since 9/11, but sadly, non-Muslim victims of the post-9/11 backlash were remarkably not mentioned once in the hour-long documentary, which aired on BBC Two this week.
The documentary by film-makers Mobeen Azhar and Masood Khan includes their personal reflections 25 years on from 9/11, featuring interviews with friends such as Baroness Warsi and Salma Yaqoob. They reflect on how things have changed for British Muslims since the attack on the Twin Towers.

Our deputy-director @Singhtwo2 writes about a @BBC documentary
Muslims weren’t the only victims to suffer after 9/11
‘Moreover, if our public broadcaster has any commitment to fair and equal treatment, it might consider commissioning a documentary entitled Being Sikh After 9/11.’

Also, Sikhs are just 2.1% of Canada’s population, yet Sikh Nation is one of Canadian Blood Services’ largest donor groups — and its largest Partners for Life group in B.C. & Yukon.
Far beyond our share. How does that happen?

The BBC documentary - Being Muslim After 9/11 - inaccurately quotes the latest Home Office hate crime statistics.
The 46% is a figure for the perceived religion of the victim; i.e they are perceived to be Muslim.
That is very different to what the BBC assert below:
'46% of religious hate crimes targeted Muslims'.
Historic FOI responses obtained show that 'Islamophobic' hate crime as a flag recorded by the MET police, also captures victims who are - Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics and those of no recorded faith.
Have requested the @BBC make a correction to the misleading statement.
Moreover, it is frankly remarkable that an hour long documentary on post 9/11's impact on Muslims, ignores the fact that the first person killed in retribution for 9/11 was in fact a Sikh, or the first place attacked in retribution for 7/7 was a gurdwara in Kent.
BBC bias at its best. 1/2

Labour’s “Islamophobia” definition was almost certainly influenced by extremists.
Ministers said the evidence was deleted - but I proved this was a lie.
Now they say it’s not in the “public interest” to reveal which groups took part.

I am pleased to see Jagtar Singh Johal has been released on bail from prison in India.
Jagtar is a British national who, for almost nine years, has been arbitrarily detained in India. He has suffered torture at the hands of the police there.
This is an important moment. However, more now needs to be done. The UK Government must do everything in its power to bring him home.

Labour’s controversial Islamophobia definition — and the process by which it was drafted — stinks more and more of a cover-up every day.
It was bad enough that Angela Rayner appointed five individuals to the Working Group tasked with drafting the definition, all of whom had troubling links to Islamist organisations, including the Muslim Council of Britain and MEND.
Now, thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Shadow Justice Secretary Nick Timothy, it has emerged that every submission to the Working Group’s consultation was deleted — apparently in breach of the Government’s own data policy.
At every turn, Labour ministers have refused to answer straightforward questions from parliamentarians and key stakeholders such as the Free Speech Union.
Who submitted evidence to the consultation? Did extremists have an opportunity to influence the drafting of the definition? Did ministers instruct officials to delete every response?
It has also emerged that the Government pressed the Equality and Human Rights Commission to accept the proposed definition, despite the EHRC’s objections.
The EHRC and the Free Speech Union repeatedly warned that this definition was unnecessary and would have a chilling effect on free speech. Laws already exist to protect people from religious hatred and discrimination.
If Labour genuinely cared about tackling anti-Muslim hatred, it would enforce those laws — not introduce a definition that risks silencing legitimate debate.

The Yemeni national who smashed up the bus in Telford and assaulted the British Sikh driver is an illegal immigrant who entered the UK illegally on May 2nd, it was revealed in court today. He then put in a, no doubt, bogus asylum claim and now stays in taxpayer-funded accommodation.
