I asked Mai Vang if there are any progressive or DSA policies she doesn't agree with as she runs for CA-7. "Um, so give me an example?" Like getting rid of the police. "I don't think law enforcement should be expected to solve all of our issues..."

In CA-7, Rep. Doris Matsui responds to Mai Vang's calls for generational change & criticism of her corporate PAC money. "You can't buy me, you can't buy my vote at all," Matsui told me. "I'm not going to be here forever, but at this moment you need someone who understands..."

Just a couple days left and we can all be done with the ads, and the lawn signs, and texts, and calls… Both @maggykrell and I are on the ballot and I hope we have earned your support and vote to return to our positions in the legislature. Don’t forget to turn in those ballots before the end of the day Tuesday - @saclib are vote centers (vote in person or drop your ballot). Almost there…

Councilwoman Mai Vang agrees: ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS AND FILTH. @SacPolice Officers and my @sacsheriff Deputies are not ICE; and definitely not Bastards or Filth. Sacramento City Councilwoman Mai Vang, who’s now running for United States Congress, not only believes that SHE can protect you, but she also endorses that “All Cops Are Bastards” ideology and that the men in women in uniform are “Filth”. Congresswoman Matsui does not believe that. I support Doris Matsui and I am asking you to join me.

😳 @maiyangvang - I hope you will reconsider your plans to participate in a livestream fundraiser with social media influencer Hasan Piker on October 14, as reported by FOX40 News. Piker's documented rhetoric about sexual violence and women raises serious questions about the values such a partnership communicates. The political #MeToo movement emerged because women had endured too many instances in which powerful people were given the benefit of the doubt while those affected by misconduct were expected to bear the consequences. It was a call for a political environment in which women's experiences and dignity would no longer be dismissed - certainly not by the people who are responsible for creating the public policy and laws that should benefit us all. Sexual assault is not a punchline. Rape is not an acceptable device for entertainment, political commentary, or online notoriety. The dignity and safety of women should never depend on whether the person making such remarks shares our politics.
Mai Vang would be one of several progressive candidates who've appeared on Piker's livestream. Read more in the comments ⬇️ abridged.org/news/matsui-van…

Few people love libraries the way my dear friend Peter Coyl does. He and the Sacramento Public Library team make sure everyone always feels welcome. You can see that care all over Elk Grove’s new library. Thank you, Peter, and the whole team.   And thank you to Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, the Elk Grove City Council and the whole Elk Grove community for showing up. City leaders made this library a priority and saw it through. Residents helped shape what it became. Judging by the crowd yesterday, it’s going to be a busy place!

Libraries are at the heart of strong communities. They connect our neighbors to knowledge, resources, and opportunities that help families thrive.   The opening of the new Elk Grove Library is a testament to what we can accomplish when local leaders, community partners, and residents work together toward a shared goal.   I'm proud to celebrate this investment in Elk Grove's future and the lasting impact it will have for generations to come!

It was wonderful to join the Elk Grove Food Bank for Harvest of Hope and celebrate the incredible work they do to serve families throughout our community. For decades, the Elk Grove Food Bank has been there for our neighbors, providing nutritious food and critical resources to people facing food insecurity while treating every person who walks through their doors with dignity and compassion. I’m proud to stand with the Elk Grove Food Bank and everyone working to make sure no family in our community goes hungry.

It was an honor to recognize Larry Sahota as our Veteran of the Month.
Larry’s commitment to service did not end with his military career.

Through his work with the Elk Grove Food Bank and Sacramento’s veteran community, he continues to serve his neighbors and support those who need it most.

I’m proud to recognize Larry and thank him for a lifetime of service to our country and community.
