Serious Q: is there a subreddit for people that want to discuss Texas politics + actually have more than 1 clue about the actual facts?
If one more jabroney from EU or CA or NY gets in my face and tries to tell me about my own g-d- industry, I’m gonna set fire to something.
Oh, they don’t? That’s fascinating.
Since I’ve lived here my entire life, and worked for legislators for 20 years, and have forgotten more about Texas law and history than you’ll ever know… would you care to explain to us all what happens if no candidate earns 50% on Nov 3?

A vast coalition of MAGA activists and rent-seekers is determined to convince everyone that J.D. Vance is a unique political talent and that doubting his claim to a coronation as Trump’s successor is not only politically naïve but ideologically heretical. The chief operating officer of Turning Point Action, Tyler Bowyer, declared, “He’s the clear-cut leader by a lot. This isn’t highly competitive.” Indiana Sen. Jim Banks insisted, “I think it’s inevitable at this point that Vance will be the [GOP] nominee in 2028.” Breitbart’s Matt Boyle: “Vance is clearly the far, runaway frontrunner, and no one else can hold a candle to him right now.” Last year at the Vanceguard Heritage Foundation, Tucker Carlson pronounced, “J.D. Vance is the future, period.” At the recent (disastrous) NatCon event in Jerusalem, Christian right pooh-bah William Wolfe asserted, “JD Vance is the successor to Donald Trump. JD Vance, not Marco Rubio, not Ted Cruz, not anybody else who can throw their hat in the ring.”
Vance’s supporters think this is all a show of strength. I see it as a sign of weakness—theirs and Vance’s.
In 2022, Vance scored a relatively lackluster victory in the only race he ever ran on his own, in a state where all of the other Republicans on the ballot overperformed him by a wide margin. Running in a state that Trump won by 8 points two years earlier, hypernormie Republican Gov. Mike DeWine won by 25 points. Vance won by 6, after both Mitch McConnell and MAGA dumped millions on his race to drag him across the finish line.
Vance seems to think that Trump’s magic comes from being an ass. And to be sure, that is what some people like about him. But most Trump voters think his asininity is an at times regrettable byproduct of what they like about him. As someone preternaturally immune to Trump’s supposed charms, I can’t say I like the guy (growing up in Manhattan made me a bit like the Dread Pirate Roberts developing an immunity to iocaine powder). But I get why some people do. They think Trump is authentic, funny, and bold. (They also love him for his enemies.) I can quibble with all of these things. But I can also recognize the reality of the perception. Being Donald Trump works for Donald Trump. It really doesn’t work for anyone else.

Every one of these posts is a set up to claim fraud if/when Paxton loses. Designed to generate future outrage that Talarico MUST have cheated to win.

Texas can't trust a man who interrupted Valentine's Day dinner with his WIFE to take a call from Elon Musk asking for tax breaks and state grants.
You better believe Greg Abbott will 100% sell Boca Chica State Park to Elon Musk on November 4th.

Ok. I’ve finally realized: Chad Shillbanks, @TonerousHyus, @admcrlsn, @BlackLabelAdvsr — they’re all trolling 🤣
they are engagement farming while the election turnout numbers are abysmal for the GOP, as MAGA gnashes and wails.
Ok… some of this is just funny. This guy is clearly taking the piss.

Cooper’s Old Time Pit BBQ in New Braunfels, which hosted Ken Paxton and Ted Cruz for a GOTV event Saturday, says:
“We are not in the business of endorsing political candidates. This is the action of a rogue employee and was not authorized by ownership.”
facebook.com/share/18fTEGVot…
And …this. 👇 It’s a psyop to lay groundwork for the “we were cheated!” message they’re planning for Nov 4.
I have seen evidence that many MAGA influencers are being directly told to tweet:
* Paxton is winning
* Claims that black voters are staying home
* Republican turn out is leading
It’s all part of their effort for Big Lie 2.0 to try and get MAGA nuts to block certification when they lose.
They’ll claim it’s “impossible” because “we all saw the turn out” and it “magically changed”
And another one
25 million people have already voted.
Republicans are suddenly leading in places like Texas and Arizona after every pollster and their media lapdogs swore Democrats were winning by double digits.
WHAT HAPPENED? LOL. 😂 Where’s that mythical blue wave? Still hasn’t shown up.
This is exactly why I always say DON’T BELIEVE THE POLLS. Don’t let their fearmongering and doomer nonsense get in your head.

This is nuclear meltdown, ALL of the CEO's have quit the polar LNG project in Alaska because they learned that it was being secretly funded by Russia. Trump is a traitor not to just the Allied Nations but to his OWN country. How dare the U.S.A. talk about corruption or morality
Holy fucking shit! This must be STOPPED!!
"Polar LNG is an American company with a bald eagle and a flag on its website, promising that it “helps ensure the United States leads” and calling itself “America’s Arctic Advantage.”
Its plan is to liquefy natural gas on Alaska’s North Slope and ship it to Asia.
The New York Times found that at least some of its money came secretly from Novatek, a Russian energy giant under partial U.S. sanctions with close ties to Putin.
The man who ran the company said so. Joel Riddle, Polar LNG’s CEO until September, said he was told the startup money came from a company in the United Arab Emirates and later learned otherwise.
“It’s not only unlawful, but it’s not in the U.S. interest to have Russian technology controlling the commercialization of Arctic gas in the North Slope,” he said.
Novatek is no longer hiding it. The company told the Times on Friday that it’s moving to acquire “minority shareholder” status in the project: a sanctioned Russian firm openly seeking a stake in American gas production.
Putin discussed the project last month with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s envoys, as one of several energy deals the White House believes could smooth relations with Moscow and help end the war in Ukraine.
The Times found no indication Witkoff or Kushner knew about Polar LNG or its Novatek ties.
The sanctions that would block it carry a familiar name. The Graham Act specifically targets Novatek and its Arctic LNG 2 project because of the company’s ties to Putin. Trump waived those sanctions last week, calling it necessary to keep peace talks going.
Riddle didn’t leave quietly. He attached memos from the law firm Baker Botts to his resignation letter, noting that Treasury’s sanctions unit had already raised “potential Russia-related sanctions concerns” about the company’s Novatek ties.
At least two other top executives have also left, and Trump officials were warned about the secret Russian financing and urged to investigate. The Energy Department didn’t respond to the Times.
Polar LNG went after him. The company called Riddle a “disgruntled former employee,” said he was “terminated for cause,” and threatened litigation. Documents show he resigned six days before that termination letter, which cited, in part, his sanctions concerns.
“It is terrible on environmental grounds, it is a terrible idea on economic and geopolitical grounds, and most importantly this feeds the belief that Putin can get an out-of-jail-free card,” said Geoffrey Pyatt, a former State Department energy official.
Russian money in an American company, Russian technology on the Alaskan seabed, a Russian stake in American gas, discussed with Putin by the Trump’s envoys, and a sanctions waiver Trump signed weeks before an election."

Oh, so they'll be "close" now. You do know that republicans and democrats are tied in early voting, right?

Hispanics under the age of 30 have not only exceeded their total turnout at this point in 2024, they have almost doubled it.
Agree 100%.
And I don’t care if somebody wants to sit out a cycle and run again… I don’t think it needs to be a 12-year forever cap.
But it’s time for term limits in Texas.
It’s time for a Texas Constitutional amendment that term limits ALL Statewide political offices. This election cycle proves it in my opinion. Isn’t 12 years as Governor enough? @GinaHinojosaTX @KenPaxtonTX @DanPatrick @tedcruz @jamestalarico @GregAbbott_TX
He doesn’t care about the economy.
And in a week when every MAGA election 𝕏𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕥 is railing that the Dems must be committing fraud… please remind them that this is why working families are tired, angry and voting out the GOP.
This is unenforced error.
Burn it down.
oh yeah, this one needs it own whole spotlight and bookmark
