Built an eight-figure business from scratch. 25 years of structures, jurisdictions, and quiet wealth. What works… from experience, not theory.

Seven rules from 25 years of building companies. None of them are about money. 1. Floor before ceiling. Decide what you can survive before you decide what you want. The ceiling takes care of itself. 2. Your job is the seed round. It funds the mistakes nobody else would. Keep it until the business can pay for its own. 3. Where you build is a decision, not an inheritance. Most people build where they were born and call it loyalty. The rules you operate under are the one thing you get to choose. Choose them. 4. Pick partners for how they lose, not how they win. Everyone is pleasant in a good year. The contract tells you who they are in a bad one. Read it before you need it. 5. Everything you tell people about your money becomes a claim on it. Say less. The quiet ones get fewer invoices. 6. Build for winter. Every budget assumes the bad season. 2008 sorted the two kinds: the interesting ones made the news, the quiet ones made payroll. 7. Freedom is a by-product of structure, not a goal. Chase it directly and you get an expensive pause. Build the structure and it arrives on its own. Bravery is overrated. Structure isn't.

The market is doing what it does every few years: finding out who built for winter and who built for the brochure.

Everyone wants to quit the job to build the business. The ones who last keep the job to fund it. The salary isn't the thing holding you back. It's the only investor who'll pay for your mistakes and never want the money back. Your job is the seed round. Treat it like one.

Time is the only luxury that doesn't come with a receipt. It does come with an invoice. You pay it years earlier, in evenings, and weekends… it's the best money I ever spent.

The only 22 countries in the world🌍 worth moving to (as an entrepreneur). I'm German-Polish & I've lived in Asia, Switzerland, UAE & Cyprus. I visited every worthy place & this is what I’d choose for 2027. > The UAE 🇦🇪 is amazing for networking, getting inspired & seeing what's possible. But after a while, everyone needs a break from the hustle (& heat). > Malta 🇲🇹 is a great alternative in the EU. I had a few nice trips there, but it's quite small & I don't like their tax refund system. > Bali 🇮🇩, Thailand 🇹🇭 & co. are nice for 1-2 months, but every time I get food poisoned I just want to leave. Don't get me wrong. They are still great options, just not for me. And to be fair, any of them beats staying at home & paying 50% in tax. But now it’s getting interesting. Low taxes alone isn't the goal either. It's so much more when choosing a country to live, build a business & raise a family in. I'm actually fine with paying a fair amount of taxes. I don’t need a tax haven. I need a place where I see that taxes get reinvested into infrastructure & society. Add safety, peace, nature, low bureaucracy, a great climate & we’ve got the closest thing to a perfect country. For me, that's Cyprus 🇨🇾. I've been living here for almost 8 years now & it offers all that. In addition, Cyprus has a special 60 days tax residency which allows me to travel a big part of the year. This means I have my permanent base in Cyprus. A routine, friends, my house & an office here. But whenever I want to break my routine with traveling, I can do so. I visit Dubai, Warsaw, Cape Town and South East Asia regularly & I love it. However, after a few weeks I'm always excited to come back home. And since Cyprus has a great geo-location, traveling is super efficient. I could literally live anywhere in the world, but I keep choosing Cyprus: > Total tax rate sits at 0-17.65% > Amazing island lifestyle > Sun all year round > Low cost of living Does this mean you have to pick Cyprus too? No. Pick the place that fits your life, your business & your family. But keep in mind: You have only 79 days left to relocate before the 2027 tax calendar starts. So if this post motivated just one person to pack their suitcases, it was worth writing. – at Cyprus

If you're Dutch 🇳🇱, you have 14 months left to escape the country. The Netherlands is about to completely reform Box 3. And it’s going to be ugly. The plan is to introduce one of the worst taxes I've seen in Europe. With the new 36% tax on unrealized gains, literally everything will be affected: > Company value > Public stocks > Crypto > ETFs > Any other investments And the craziest part is that you will have to pay tax, even if the value goes down before the tax bill arrives. That means entrepreneurs & investors could literally get margin-called by their own government. How? Well, most people don't keep their wealth in cash. Wealth is usually tied to company value, assets or investments. And so people will be forced to sell parts of their assets just to have the liquidity to cover the tax liability. No wonder more than 60.000 Dutch people signed a petition against this. Even Shopify founder Tobi Lütke said: "This is the dumbest thing any government on planet earth is pursuing right now." Interestingly, the pressure might actually be working. Just a few days ago, the Dutch government suddenly announced that it wants to revise the 2028 system & move "as much of Box 3 as possible" towards an actual capital gains tax instead. But no one knows what this will mean exactly & nothing is official yet. In any case, the direction of the country is clear: Higher taxes, more control & less incentives to build wealth. Which is exactly why we already see the consequences: Dutch entrepreneurs, investors & families quietly became one of our main clientele. And one of their top destinations is Cyprus 🇨🇾: > 0% tax on unrealized gains > 0% tax on capital gains > 0% tax on dividends/interest as a Non-Dom > 3-15% corporate tax > No exit tax But even if you want to leave the Netherlands as well now, there is one big problem: If you own 5%+ of a BV, the Dutch tax office can assess your exit & might send you tax bills even after leaving. So if you want to leave the Netherlands properly, definitely make sure to get an individual consultation call asap. It’s better to have an exit strategy in place, before it is too late.

The widest part is at the bottom. That's the whole engineering lesson, and the whole business lesson. What does a wide base look like in a small company? Build the base wider than the ambition.

Bought from the boat, not the menu. Same lobster, one handshake, no middleman. Most of what I know about business fits in that sentence. The rest is finding the boat.

The tug does the work. The ship gets the name. Every company I've built had one of these underneath it: the structure, the contract, the quiet part. Nobody photographs it. Nothing moves without it.

Structured companies in two of the list below. Chose them on one question: could you run a company there for twenty years without the rules moving. Shorter list.
The only 7 Countries with 0% capital gains tax I’d actually live in: 🇨🇾 Cyprus 🇦🇪 UAE 🇲🇹 Malta 🇨🇭 Switzerland 🇲🇨 Monaco 🇸🇬 Singapore 🇳🇿 New Zealand

Millionaires are quietly moving to this secret island. But most people never even heard of it. Cyprus 🇨🇾 is a small Mediterranean island offering ridiculous advantages for entrepreneurs, investors & wealthy families. The island just ranked #1 in the 2026 Private Wealth Migration Report. Ahead of 🇳🇱🇵🇹🇮🇹🇨🇭🇬🇷🇲🇨. But this isn't just some random internet ranking. This was published by Henley & Partners, a global market leader in wealth migration. They look at 12 factors like taxation, quality of life, investment opportunities, geopolitical stability & capital mobility. And that's exactly what makes Cyprus so special. When it comes to taxes: > 3-15% corporate tax > Non Dom Status (0% tax on dividends/interest) > No capital gains, inheritance, wealth tax > English Common-law foundation > Access to the EU But wealthy people don’t just move for taxes. They move where their money, family & lifestyle is treated best. Luxury Lifestyle in Cyprus: > Seafront living > Private luxury properties > Hidden 5 star resorts, Marina’s, golf courses > Fine dining options > International schools But the real luxury isn’t even any of that. Cyprus also gives you what money can't buy: safety, sunshine, clean seawater, privacy & peace of mind. Look. I’ve been talking about Cyprus on YouTube since 2020. I was on my knees telling people how beautiful it is & begging them to come here. For years, nobody cared. But now wealthy families & investors are finally starting to notice. My little secret place isn't so secret anymore. And I genuinely believe we're still early. So if you've been thinking about relocating or investing in Cyprus, you need to come here & see it for yourself.

Seven good rules. The eighth is the one that makes the other seven survivable: structure before bravery.
I'm a millionaire. It took me 59 years to learn these 7 rules about money, but I'll teach them to you in 2 minutes:

Canadian savoir-faire in one line: purposely low key. The banks nobody talked about in the good years were the ones still standing in 2008. Bravery is overrated. Structure isn't.

A good measure of success is how often I can do what I enjoy without thinking twice. The thinking was done years ago. - Company structure. - Jurisdiction. - Nobody to impress. Time is the dividend.

I'd add structure and jurisdiction. Twenty-five years across three of them, and that one decision outweighed most of the seven.
I'm a millionaire. I didn't get rich by making more money. I got rich by stopping these 7 things that were keeping me poor:

Thanks. A quick brief: business, but the quiet kind. Structure, jurisdiction, survivable downside. No advice, just what worked over 25 years.
