Ready to build a satellite? We are!
We’ve unpacked our @gomspacegroup satellite platform for our Jovian-1 mission in our clean room. Next we’ll start checking comms.

Scientists in India have reported the “first significant result” from Aditya-L1, the country’s first solar observation mission in space. I spoke to an astrophysicist to explain what it is and what makes it so significant @BBCIndia

The Jovian-1 mission takes a giant leap forward as we’ve received the satellite platform from @GomSpaceGroup!
It will contain and power the 5 payloads being built by the @UniOfSurrey, @unisouthampton, @portsmouthuni, students from the 3 unis & @AmsatUK

ALT 5 black plastic travel containers and one cardboard box, all with labels saying "Jovian-1 flight hardware"
These payload module trays will help us fit 5 payloads of the #Jovian-1 satellite into 1 platform. It’ll let us remove single payloads during testing rather than all 5 and was designed by a @UniofSurrey student!

Pop by the @SpaceAtSurrey stand at #ESWW2024 this afternoon. Unfortunately I can't be there, by my colleagues will demonstrate our new SAIRA radiation instruments and our model MAIRE+
The #Jovian-1 team replaced the satellite dish which connects to the @SpaceAtSurrey ground station, so that it can receive more data.

Slingshot in space: the tricky manoeuvre that will use Earth and the Moon to send the Juice mission to Jupiter bit.ly/3WNLXA9
Remember the “slingshot” manoeuvre the crew figured out in The Martian to save Matt Damon? It’s like that only more complicated.
Written for @ConversationUK, Astrodynamacist Dr @berry291285 & Data handling expert @DrChrisBridges explain why this JUICE manoeuvre is so difficult.
