Joined a fireside chat with @SharmaShradha at the 17th edition of @YourStoryCo’s TechSparks to discuss Karnataka’s new tech-state playbook. Spoke about how Karnataka is helping shape the new tech order, backed by a strong foundation built over decades across skills, research, Centres of Excellence, patient capital through programmes like ELEVATE and progressive policy support. The next phase is to actively connect innovation to markets through programmes like Government First, where startups can find their first customer in government and our Global Innovation Alliance, which opens pathways to global ecosystems. The new tech order we are building is one where frontier technology is built, scaled, tested on real public problems and deployed responsibly from Karnataka to the world.

Karnataka has built a first-of-its-kind DeepTech scale-up platform in the country through INNOVERSE, focused squarely on helping proven startups become globally competitive companies. INNOVERSE is designed for the stage where technology works, customers exist, but scaling still demands the right mix of capital, infrastructure, markets, policy support and anchor customers. Through dedicated programmes including the DeepTech Enabler and Innoverse Connect, we are creating structured pathways for companies at different stages of growth. The first DeepTech Enabler cohort brings together 7 startups across 5 priority sectors, with a nine-month engagement focused on commercial scale. The ambition is to double combined revenues from about ₹35 crore to ₹70 crore and mobilise growth capital from around ₹150 crore to over ₹300 crore. The goal is to help Karnataka’s best DeepTech companies cross the third Valley of Death and build enduring global businesses from here.

The Kamath brothers have been everywhere this year 🤑 From Zerodha turning 16 to whatever the brothers are building, backing or launching next, there’s always something keeping them in the spotlight But there’s another part of the Kamath story that deserves a closer look: Rainmatter The investment arm has quietly built a portfolio across fintech, healthtech, climate, consumer and more backing startups that are building far beyond the Zerodha ecosystem So we went through the portfolio and mapped Rainmatter’s top startup investments, sector by sector. 👀 Because the Kamath brothers aren’t just building companies. They’re building a portfolio too @UltrahumanHQ | @allohealth_care | @askwalnut #Inc42 #trending #NikhilKamath #NithinKamath #Zerodha #trading #investments

WHAT IF A ROCKET COULD GO FARTHER WITH THE SAME FUEL? 🚀 The innovators say their proprietary propellant chemistry can deliver a 20–30% increase in specific impulse, potentially enabling greater range, higher payload capacity, increased speed and reduced time-to-target across relevant applications. #VandeBharatam #SpaceTech #DeepTech #Propulsion #IndianInnovators

The journey began almost a decade ago with India’s first student rocketry team and an unconventional idea — use sounding rockets to map the 26-km-long Hirakud Dam. Despite being a civil engineer with no formal aerospace or propellant background, the innovator and his team went on to launch seven successful sounding rockets, earning recognition in the Limca Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. Sometimes, the biggest journeys begin simply by asking — “Why not rockets?” #VandeBharatam #SpaceTech #Rocketry #IndianInnovators #DeepTech #MadeInIndia

Another successful space tech startup that started its journey from Odisha. From a college project at VSSUT Burla to a $6.4 million-funded space-tech startup. Meet “SpaceFields” - an Odisha-born startup that is also recognised under Startup Odisha. In 2016, three students from VSSUT Burla - Apurwa Masook, Sudarshan Samal and Rounak Agrawal - built a small satellite(CanSat) and a rocket to study the water and sediment at Hirakud Dam. They went on to found SpaceFields in 2021. Today, the IISc-incubated deeptech startup develops advanced solid rocket propulsion systems, including Aerospike engines, for space and defence applications. Its ambition: to build next-generation propulsion systems and become a major player in India’s space and defence ecosystem. From Hirakud to rocket propulsion - Odisha is reaching for space.

The first edition of Vande Bharatam is over. For me, on this Independence Day there is no better reminder of what India is capable of. 26,000+ applications. Every state represented. Young founders, women entrepreneurs, rural innovators and remarkable problem-solvers from Tier 2 and 3 Bharat. All of them are winners and their journey has just begun. What stays with me is the extraordinary depth of talent across this country. India’s next generation of builders is already here. We just need to find them, back them and give them a platform. Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind. 🇮🇳
