FYI: you’re likely in the database. I’m really tired of this. The world worked just fine when someone would just look at your ID rather than scanning it and storing it in some unknown database somewhere that’s immediately hacked by threat actors. The same goes for KYC and AML, they didn’t stop anything. There’s still money laundering lol, they just made it easier to steal your identity. The government should be sued for mandating this, the company that didn’t secure the data should be sued, and every business that used this service to offload the responsibility should be sued.
I really recommending reading this. In summary, a company which does ID verification for in-person interactions (hotels, car rentals, ID verification for alcohol or marijuana, etc) has some how exposed over 153,000,000 drivers licenses for people in the United States and Canada. It is a catastrophic data breach, probably one of the worse I've ever seen. If you're in the United States and have traveled, gotten a hotel, purchased marijuana or alcohol, there is a high probability you're in this. Unlike other breaches, this includes a photo of the person (from the license), making verification you've identified the person significantly easier. This poses a significant threat to celebrities (musicians, YouTubers, streamers, adult entertainers, actors, etc), politicians, lawyers, wealthy people (CEOs, investors, people of public interest), Law Enforcement Officers, etc Krebs himself, and several other security researchers, have already confirmed they're in the data leak. tl;dr gah damn dawg this company is going to be sued into oblivion krebsonsecurity.com/2026/09/…

I’m rarely serious on here. But as a neuroscientist, I would say the simple “violate your normal routine” move, such as taking a different route to or home from work, is the single easiest way to address these effects.
I’m a retired brain surgeon and I wanna tell you why you feel like life is passing by. I just need one minute to explain this to you so hang in there. Repetitive daily routines stop the brain from recording clear detailed memories. When every day looks the same, your brain does not track time the same as a clock does. It tracks change. If nothing new happens then days, months, and years start to blur together. This is know as Time compression. When life lacks variety, your brain compresses past days together, making it feel like time is sped up. To stop feeling like life is passing you by, add new experiences to your life. Break routine habits, like changing your daily home routine, taking a different route to work, or trying a new hobby. Schedule small trips or plan new adventures so your days do not blend together. Practice mindfulness by staying fully focused on what you are doing right now and not trying to race off to the next task. Keep a journal and write down happy memories or memorable parts of the day before you go to sleep. Take deep, calm breaths when you feel anxious or rushed to return your focus to the moment. You can and you will retrain your brain to not feel like life is passing you by by following these few simple measures.

Einstein stated that STEM without the humanities creates individuals “who would more closely resemble a well-trained dog than a harmoniously developed person.”
The brighter STEM people understand that studying science does not automatically turn out intellectuals. Intellectualism requires a broader understanding of the world. However, there's a large midwit layer of STEM narcissists who lack the humility that could drive them to investigate what they don't understand. Placed in positions of influence, these people are quite dangerous.

Polymarket deleted their tweet because they wanted to stop the backlash they were getting for it. I won’t let them. Prediction markets, and polymarket specifically are disgusting sites who only exist because enough people lose money on them that it keeps them running. The normalization of this website, especially within the League of Legends community, is one of the most alarming things that has happened in recent years. League creators are getting paid hundreds, if not thousands per quote tweet, as well as 5 figure monthly salaries to promote them on stream and it’s at a point now where this is just accepted. It shouldn’t be. Prediction markets, gambling websites, and sports betting sites are willing to shill tens of thousands of dollars to content creators because they know the viewers of said creator will lose infinitely more than they pay for the sponsor. How can this be okay? Money, especially in this economy, is hard to come by. But throwing your viewers and the people who support you under the bus because you want to make a few thousand extra every month should inspire criticism, not acceptance. Fuck Polymarket, and fuck the people who run the account for trying to use mine and my wife’s pregnancy announcement for their own benefit and everyone else’s demise. cer.econ.columbia.edu/news/u… scu.edu/ethics-spotlight/the… science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

I am so fucking tired of tourists complaining about the local food
I'm all for modern games and controllers pushing limits on competitiveness but this is a scene for a game that hasn't been patched* in 27 years. People play it *because* of the authenticity. You don't get to complain that an event is cab-only when that is its sole purpose.
