They're desperate for the US to turn a corner because they think they can follow along in the slipstream, rather than have the balls to show any moral leadership themselves.
The Democrats' win in the US midterms could be part of a global "turning away from right-wing populism, from outrage and from promoting division", Dame Emily Thornberry tells @CathyNewman. Watch the full show on YouTube (link in comments)

Unreal. We need a serious anti-terf reckoning in the UK; they’re *very* rarely only bigots in one dimension
“We need to allow parents to say, no I'm sorry you're a girl, or even maybe, I’m sorry I don't think you're gay.” Kathleen Stock says parents should be free to question their child’s identity without fear of prosecution.

Hard to watch Americans elect authentic, uncompromised, charismatic younger Dems all over the country… and then have @SenSchumer & @RepJeffries immediately step out as the front men — who are really none of those things.

Outside the Supreme Court, where the Palestine Action appeal hearing closed for the day, a man was arrested for saying, "In the UK, it's a crime to say, I support Palestine Action". Police reportedly said it was due to the length of the pause between "crime to say" and "I support.."

"You don’t have to be a genius, really, to work out what’s going on here.” On Wednesday, the last possible legal challenge on British soil of Palestine Action’s proscription began at the supreme court. Dozens of protesters were arrested for holding signs quoting the author Sarah Helm, wife of the prime minister’s national security advisor Jonathan Powell. That’s despite the fact that the Met police chose not to take action against Helm, exposing a glaring double standard. Novara Media’s @harriepw reports from London.

The United States is still committing genocide in Gaza, and the majority of Democrats elected last night support it.

Your government barred the guy campaigning with Abdul el-Sayed from entering the country. Nice try!
When you vilify, smear and demonise good people who refuse to let your hate define them, other good people don't stand by. They stand up and vote for hope over fear. Congratulations @AbdulElSayed 🎉

From today’s Palestine Action court case. “The state always wishes to have further powers to prevent crime, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. The proscription was an excessive reaction, and they didn’t need to go there.” 🎯 They did it under pressure from Trump and Israel

It's a sickening spectacle to see Labour MPs who think anti-Zionism is racism celebrating the election of Abdul Al-Sayed--an anti-Zionist Muslim who they would've expelled from their party

Polanski is one of few politicians in the UK who can congratulate Abdul El-Sayed without stinking of hypocrisy.
Congratulations Abdul El-Sayed. Congratulations to everyone celebrating victories across the United States. These are victories for communities standing up to billionaires & the media empires they own. Around the world, we've all got a lot of work to do. Let's go! ✊🏽

🚨Sheffield Labour capitulates. Greens didn’t give an inch. This is how you do it.
BREAKING: Labour leader Fran Belbin has announced that the party *will not* be proposing to run Sheffield council as a minority administration at today’s full council meeting. This is after last minute talks today aimed at finding common ground between Labour and the Greens.

This is the same Labour Government letting B52 bombers take off from British soil to bomb Iran - while people here at home pay the price of Trump's illegal war in spiking energy prices. Warm words about ending the war won't cut it - Burnham must end the UK's participation.
🚨 WATCH: Andy Burnham says the Democratic landslide in the US midterms means the world now has an opportunity to end the Iran war “That’s what the voters, in my view, are saying in the United States”
