359 years and still hoofing. For 359 years the #RoyalMarines have stood ready to answer the call. To protect our nation, maintaining our place at the pinnacle of UK defence. We stand united. Ready to fight wherever we're needed. Happy birthday, Royals. youtube.com/watch?v=rdTB9DD0…

🇦🇫 On this dark anniversary, we do well to remember the sacrifices of the soldiers and officers of the Afghan Republic that fell on this day, two years ago. At least 70.000 of them gave their lives for a free Afghanistan, and they kept doing so after everyone else had given up

When I quit Royal Marines training, it was (the then) Major Charlie Hopson who convinced me to stay the course. Well worth a couple of quid to sponsor a great bloke, and a great cause. The best you is within you.
In 2010 when I was medically discharged from the military Charlie Hobson (who at the time was CEO of The Royal Marines Association) gave me a job. My only other options according to a recruitment agency were labourer on a building site or check out assistant in a supermarket, both great jobs but not ones that lit my fire or I felt I could put my heart and soul into. After his time at the RMA & various other jobs Charlie then started working for Rock 2 Recovery UK who many of you know are an incredible organisation that have helped and saved thousands of lives within the Veteran & Emergency Services Community. Well after decades of helping and supporting others Charlie is finally retiring and I’m doing what I can to help him walk off into the sunset to spend time with his family. Before he goes he wants to do one more fundraiser to try and raise as much money as possible for Rock2Recovery so they can continue to do the incredible work that they do. Please take a minute to watch this video and see what we’re doing and then if you can please hit the link below to donate towards Charlie’s final hurrah. sportsgiving.co.uk/sponsor/a…

I am so desperately sad to hear about Christina’s death. We messaged on LinkedIn just a week ago promising to meet up and reconnect. She was a wonderful colleague @NHSLeadership compassionate, values driven, and able to steer & influence with kindness. @c_chipperfield

Learning new things can have a positive impact on our mental health. Learning can help us cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. In addition, learning can be fun and rewarding and open up new opportunities and possibilities for us. #MindYourMind @deanbutton1

When a person demonstrates kindness towards others, dopamine and serotonin are released in the body, which can result in positive feelings, an optimistic outlook, and generally better mental health.

Today, with leaders from across @Raytheon_UK I got to listen to the incredible story of the “Ice Maidens” trek across Antarctica. Fascinating and inspiring. Also remembering my friend and colleague Henry Worsley. Gone but never forgotten. @Mountain_Sandy @Mountain_Sophie

If new learning isn't applied, we forget 75% of it in 6 days. Instead of "traditional" learning: 1) identify the minimum learnable unit (MLU) based on 80/20 thinking 2) apply it to the real world 3) use peer learning 4) offer micro-courses: hbr.org/2019/10/where-compan… Via @LisaBodell

I am very pleased to welcome General Gwyn as Vice-Chief. One of the outstanding Royal Marines of his generation, and an innovator, with the instincts and ambition needed to help transform the Armed Forces to become even more lethal, capable and active in the world.
Major General Gwyn Jenkins RM is to be appointed the new Vice Chief of the Defence Staff with effect from September 2022. Defence Secretary @BWallaceMP and Chief of the Defence Staff @AdmTonyRadakin_ have congratulated him on his appointment. ➡️ ow.ly/oXfb50K59lH

If anyone wants to read a story of extraordinary heroism; here it is.
On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for an attack on an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam. As the attack developed, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else: A massacre. He decided to act. /1 🧵

Delighted to be leading the team of trainers, engineers, and simulation experts who are bringing together the integrated training solution for this platform. It’s great to be working with the fantastic people in the @RoyalNavy again.

My new blog on the big personal challenges I’ve encountered as we seek to make @NHSProviders an effective anti-racist organisation. I welcome and encourage any comments/reflections and aim to respond to those over the next 48 hours. nhsproviders.org/news-blogs/…
