Don’t let anyone con you: $1,000,000 is life-changing money for 90% of the world’s population. The “$1M is nothing” crowd is made up of underachievers living in their parents’ basement who will never have anywhere near a mil.

My latest on Substack. I don't care if rich people are taxed more. They'll be fine. I care that people somehow believe that if the government only got more revenue, they'd magically start helping people who actually need it. 7figureflywheel.substack.com…

So after years of new cars, takeout, and vacations, the typical American has saved… less than $1,000. At some point, it’s not “the system”. It’s the choices.
The typical American worker has less than $1,000 saved for retirement, according to a new report from the National Institute on Retirement Security.

I'd be okay with higher taxes if the government showed it could be trusted with my tax dollars. They repeatedly haven't.

Because they aren’t houseguests. They are paying customers. Do you bus your table and wash your dishes at restaurants, like you might do as someone’s houseguest? Of course not. If Airbnb hosts don’t understand the difference, that platform is completely cooked.
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?

We cannot become this. It's incredible how so many college-educated people are fully reliant on the system just to survive. This is absolutely nuts for a first world country.
“59% of food bank users have a post-secondary education. 50% have full-time employment… The social contract has been broken.” Millions of Canadians were lied to. They went to college, played by the rules, found full-time jobs only to discover that a paycheck no longer guarantees food on the table or a roof over their heads. A warning here for Americans as well. What happens to a country when doing everything “right” is no longer enough to build a decent life? That is a Broken Country... Broken Country is a new documentary examining how Canada went from one of the safest and most prosperous countries in the world to a nation struggling with an affordability crisis, homelessness, public disorder and a growing loss of faith in its institutions. Airbnb hosts threaten to strike after the company bans them from charging a cleaning fee and forcing guests to do most of the cleaning.

What am I doing wrong with Airbnbs? We’ve had: - Broken beds - Carpets ripping up - Pots/pans from the 60s - HVACs that miss whole rooms - Water heaters that barely work Glowing reviews, always.

Reminder that the IRS accepts donations. If you believe that the only thing between the government suddenly deciding to help people in need instead of wasting money is *more money*, then write a check and send it to the IRS. I’m sure they’d appreciate it.

"I have this vision some days of Canadians coming face to face with God and saying, 'What did you do with this country I gave you?'" That's the right question. Not "who broke it," but what did WE do with what we were given? A country requires stewardship. Every generation inherits one and hands it down, and someday every one of us gives an account to God for what we did with it, by His standards, not our own. Yes, that includes our own moral conduct in public and in private. Broken Country is a documentary about how Canada got where it is: the crime, the drug deaths, the healthcare system, the middle class getting squeezed out. Americans should watch it too (as in, this is where those same policies lead). Follow @BrokenCountry

Only in the first world can you wear $200 shoes, drink an $8 coffee, own a $1,000 phone, and post on a billionaire's social media network about how capitalism has failed you.

Ideal account sizes, largest to smallest: - Retirement (401k, Roth IRA) - Brokerage (taxable investments) - High-Yield Savings Account (E-fund) - Checking account (immediate expenses) If you reverse this, you're in bad shape.

Building wealth is the same way. Nobody applauds: - Saying no - Investing 25% - Tracking spending - Paying yourself first This builds wealth. Complaining that everyone is out to get you doesn’t.
A lot of fatherhood is doing things nobody will applaud. Showing up tired. Keeping your promises. Being patient when frustrated. Making time when you're busy. It's not glamorous. But those little decisions, repeated over years, are how you build a family.

I might take AirBnBs more seriously if this is real. Might. Based on principle, I don’t want to be charged a cleaning fee and be expected to clean the house and start the laundry before I go. How was that EVER acceptable?
Airbnb is banning hosts from requiring guests to wash dishes, do laundry, or complete other "unreasonable" chores Hosts who violate the policy could face warnings, flagged listings, and reduced visibility
