Drawing equivalence between a party in the 1860s -- or even the 1960s! -- and what each evolved into over decades is dumb enough.
But let's address the ignorance on display
States seceded
The Democratic Party continued in the Union.

The Navy trains roughly 1,000 air-traffic controllers annually, at about $100,000 per trainee. Nearly a quarter fail. A Georgia Tech researcher was testing a better way to identify candidates likely to succeed. His early results were promising. Then the Navy canceled the grant. He says the project had no DEI component and believes it was cut because it took place at a university. The Pentagon's own review warns that the military's research "innovation engine is at risk of stalling." Here's what that warning looks like in practice: useful research, stopped midstream.

A good look (through @YorukIsik's eyes and camera lens) at the maritime cope cages.
Ukraine is holding Russia's Black Sea Fleet at risk, and now the shadow fleet, which funds Russia's fleet by evading sanctions on oil and gas, and by transporting stolen grain and other plunder.
Russian shadow fleet vessels are gearing up with cages, nets, and other counter-drone devices in a sign of how Ukrainian strikes are putting pressure on the Russia's presence in the Black Sea. My latest with photos & analysis by the amazing @YorukIsik: wsj.com/world/russias-shadow…

David Jolly: The other side of the aisle likes to throw around the term socialism. I just call it cheaper insurance. But tell me what a hurricane fund currently is that bails out our insurance companies?
It sounds a whole lot like socialism to me.
What does it mean when we give Elon Musk billions of dollars of tax credits and we don't tax his profits? Sounds a whole lot like socialism to me.
What about a president who says, hey, if you vote for me and elect my team, we're going to give you a $5,000 check? What about a president who removes Maduro but supports Delce in Venezuela? What about a president who suggests we should allow investment in the hospitality industry on the island of Cuba? What about a president who invited Vladimir Putin to South Florida to come to Miami in December, a leader who has backed the Maduro regime, the Sandinistas, and the Cuban regime? They don't even understand economic theory on the other side of the aisle, folks.
They're just arguing labels to try to scare us and divide us.

As the commander of military forces in E Africa, I asked the American Forces Network (TV) to replace Fox news during meal hours. Why? Because they were inimical to America's outreach overseas. Put troops in jeopardy. Made my job harder. And they now have accomplices.

Well-known Ukrainian military aerial reconnaissance specialist Oleksandr "Serg Marco" Karpiuk writes on Facebook:
"...Starlink is a civilian communications system. And SpaceX is responsible for its civilian use. Standard Starlink terminals currently have a default speed limit of 22 m/s.
To enable flight at speeds above 22 m/s, Ukraine signed contracts for Starshield, which is overseen by the Pentagon. This is already a military system, with Starlink terminals that offer greater functionality, although the accounts are considerably more expensive.
And it was the Pentagon that did two things in a single day: restricted intelligence sharing and changed the parameters of Starshield accounts.
This was a decision by the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth. Clearly on Trump's orders...."
Maybe this is the key to understanding what exactly happened.
Rep. Luna is in over her head
Madam, as a neighbour of both Ukraine and Russia, we would be delighted to support @POTUS in peace negotiations. Please note, however, that to get to a deal pressure should be put on the aggressor and not on the victim of aggression.

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.

Absolutely unreal story that just broke from NYT:
Two Trump top political advisors, James Blair and Chris LaCivita, were just paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to "give election advice" to the pro-Russia authoritarian government of Republika Srpska.

This is not just Trump's legacy. It's the legacy of every Republican who enabled him because they valued access and relevance above all else.

This is terrible news for the service academies…a real gut punch, and it will have lasting negative effects on the academies.
SCOOP: @SecWar is ending the appointment of civilian employees to tenured positions at U.S. Military Service Academies.
The move is intended to refocus military academies on “warfighter education,” Hegseth said in a memo obtained by @realDailyWire.
