Nobody seems to dispute that we are in a norm regression w/ our domestic politics and governance and that it's bad for the nation. Instead of trying to slow or reverse it, though, there's a universal desire just to fight about who started it. It's childish.
Koenig was born in 1936. Others born that year who are still with us include Alan Alda, Ursula Andress, Engelbert Humperdink, Dick Cavett, John Poindexter, former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, and former senators Barbara Mikulski, Pat Roberts, Elizabeth Dole, John Danforth, and Gary Hart.

I know this isnβt meant to be funny, but Iβm literally cackling. βMy decades long thesis on just war demonstrates israel has been fighting one, therefore I am revising my decades long thesis because it cannot possibly be that israel is doing something rightβ
Michael Walzer published βJust and Unjust Wars,β an attempt to delineate the rights and wrongs of warfare in both its causes and its conduct, in 1977. In the nearly 50 years since, no other book on the subject has matched its influence. The precepts are not complicated: it is just to defend your country from an invasion and it is unjust to invade a country that has not attacked youβalthough Walzer does allow for exceptions, mostly for humanitarian causes. It is just to assume certain risks to avoid civilian casualties and it is unjust to bomb towns indiscriminately to compel an enemy to surrender. The justice of going to warβwhat philosophers call jus ad bellumβis separate from jus in bello, the justice of how a war is fought.
The war in Gaza has made Walzer rethink one of the bookβs fundamental principles. βThe wall between jus ad bellum and jus in bello, which had sustained his theory for almost half a century, was no longer sturdy,β Jordi Graupera writes. As Walzer said to him, βThere is a sense in which the carnage of Gaza, the ongoing carnage, simply made the war unjust.β Read about why a philosopher of war is now reconsidering his seminal work: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/T7β¦

Give this man every honor we have, but don't politicize it. Don't co-opt his heroism. God bless him for having this courage. He was called to the moment, and ... damn. opb.org/article/2026/10/23/bβ¦

Makes speeches for 500k a pop. Hasnβt eaten dinner that costs less than $250 in years. Has never been in a Cheesecake Factory. Undefeated at condescending to regular folks. Will always be known for a presidency that ushered in the Trump era to begin with.

Obamaβs lame attempt to ridicule Trump at the WH correspondents dinner might well be the reason he ran in 2016.

It has nothing to do with Gaza or even Palestinians. It has simply become a global symbol for wanting the destruction of western civilization.

Ross Perot Jr. says Xi Jinping wants Taiwan by 2027.
"I mean, we should believe him. If he goes to war, the damage to the global economy is staggering."
His answer is deterrence. "If you're strong, you maintain peace. And with peace, you buy time, and time is on the side of democracy."
He thinks time favors us: China's population is set to shrink, while North America has the best demographics, economy and energy story in the world. What he worries about is our resolve.
"Our issue is will. Do we have the will to continue to protect and build our nation?"
Today I sit down with Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of Hillwood and The Perot Group. Ross founded Hillwood in 1988 and built Alliance Texas, his masterpiece, a 1 of 1 27,000-acre development.
We discuss:
β’ Why Trammell Crow told him to just build warehouses
β’ How Hillwood developed Alliance Texas
β’ How a rare earth company got its air permit in three weeks
β’ How President Bush helped close Scotiabank's move to Texas
β’ What the 1992 campaign looked like from inside the family
β’ The Iran War and why cheap oil prices are on the way
β’ Why every community should want a data center
β’ How to keep China from taking Taiwan
β’ Why he expects markets to boom after the midterms

<Giamanco ran from the wallball court to the building and got prone, moving on hands and knees along the windows.
βThatβs when I started hearing children pleading for their lives and then I started hearing gunfire and I just started army crawling faster and faster and I told myself this is probably the last thing that Iβm ever going to do.β>
Extraordinary.

The lack of self-awareness. So many things to say; hitting "too much self-regard" isn't really helpful.
