Its got to be exhausting for FSU Prez and Trustees to consistently read this BS put out be people who dont understand public or private debt service, and have never read a balance sheet or P&L in their lives. These stories are so pathetic and intended to spread propaganda against FSU. There are numerous analyses debunking their premise that "FSU is broke".
Florida State has $306 million in debt but insists money won’t stop FSU football coaching search or pursuit of another national championship. usatoday.com/story/sports/nc…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
FSU's $306M debt figure is for Doak Campbell Stadium renovations and a new football operations center per university officials; it is financed by athletic revenues like similar facility debt at peers such as Penn State ($535M reported). usatoday.com/story/sports/n… sportico.com/leagues/colleg… on3.com/nil/news/penn-…

Never seen national media put on a full wave attack on a program looking for a head coach
It was only 3 seasons ago that FSU went undefeated, got left out of CFP, and sued the ACC. Now they're 3-5, searching for a new AD and new coach, and owe fired coach Norvell $50 mil. FSU athletics closed 2025 with $437 mil of debt. @SkinnyKenny_ @FOS frontofficesports.com/articl…

Welcome to the club. Some of us stuck in the ACC have been harping on this since the network and cmte orchestrated the screw job of FSU in 2023.
Now two Big Ten coaches have implied an ESPN/SEC relationship with the CFP rankings this week. I'm honestly surprised it took this long after the Big Ten left ESPN years ago for them to say something. nytimes.com/athletic/7755177…

For those that want to bring up Jimbo’s tenure at A&M, but want FSU to hire Drink from Mizzou: Jimbo had a better winning percentage at A&M than Drink has had at Mizzou. Jimbo had a better winning percentage in conference play than Drink has had at Mizzou.

Curt Cignetti on the CFP Rankings show last night: "These people -- and there's a whole bunch of them -- they march out of the tent, they're given instructions on what to say and follow the company line. I don't need to go any further." #iufb

The vote was rigged. Just really clear examples of fraud, especially coming from the South. I mean Texas? Mississippi? Are you serious? That's the only explanation I can come up with for why a one loss Notre Dame team is #11.

And the committee determines which teams are in the same “pod” so, essentially, the group can decide which teams get close enough to use H2H as a tiebreaker.
This is actually pretty illuminating: Hunter Yurachek says that head to head will basically only matter if the 2 teams that played are in the same “pod”, which are groups of 4-6 teams they evaluate at a time. Gap between pairs like Bama/Tenn and Ind/OSU was too big.

We have seen some terrible CFP rankings over the years, but this set is particularly insane and inconsistent.

—> ESPN pays $4 billion for SEC media rights —> ESPN pays for exclusive CFP media rights —> ESPN airs the ONLY CFP selection show —> ESPN creates a mystery Power Index that the CFP uses for SOR and SOS ESPN then proceeds to rank Alabama #5, Kentucky #6 and two loss Texas at #7 All while ranking undefeated UCLA #8, one loss BYU #9 and one loss Notre Dame #11 But I’m just a conspiracy theorist, got it

When asked if he'll watch the CFP show, Kirk Ferentz throws shade on ESPN. This is the, "71-year-old Dean of Coaches I'll say whatever I want stage", and I'm here for it. Question from @CullenJHolt

LSU: • 6-2 • Lost to Kentucky and Ole Miss • Best win is 5-3 Clemson at home Wake Forest: • 7-1 • Lost to #1 Miami • Best win is 5-3 Louisville on the road But one plays in the SEC so they automatically get handed free boost to their ranking! 💕🎁 This sport declines by the day.

This committee is the worst, most non-sensical one yet. Alabama and Tennessee are both 6-2 Tennessee beat Bama 26-10. Completely dominated them. Tennessee's two losses are by a FG or less. Bama is ranked #5. Tennessee is ranked #13.

Thank you Matt. Finally a national voice that has a brain.
We have to stop this FSU doesn't have money narrative. Almost every program in college football has debt service on facilities. FSU has money. Those with it didn't want to give it to Norvell's mess of a program.

Guys, guys, guys. I'm not trying to be rash. Or knee-jerk here. But it might be ... MIGHT be ... time for Florida State to think about getting a new football coach.
