I was too young to appreciate it, at the time. But it's glorious. If you have time, maybe give An Ungentlemanly Act a spin.

Many of his fans wouldn't know that the famous intellectual Noam Chomsky was responsible for casting doubt on the first reports of the Khmer Rouge atrocities. He didn't deny the killings outright - but his scepticism muddied the waters at a critical moment. 🧵
50 years ago Pol Pot’s forces entered the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, ushering in perhaps the most insanely murderous regime in all of human history, per capita. They did this to the cheers and satisfaction of Western left intellectualdom.

Nice to see more stills from my brother @Stuart_Urban film ‘An Ungentlemanly Act’ here Ricky - and Lo and behold there he is in a cameo playing the Argentine buzo tactico guy with the silenced Sterling!

2) Yes, the scene above did really happen; however, the curious thing is that Argentine officially had no troops in town who could have been fighting, yet they popped up the second it all kicked off: they were everywhere and evidently infiltrated in before the invasion.

Can Nato operate when the trust between the US and its European allies is gone? Britain is struggling to bridge the gaps but basic doubts exist among others as to whether any US guarantee can still be replied upon. My latest for the Sunday Times (£)

Mentions of 'An Ungentlemanly Act' as movie in my recent post. It wasn't, but an important movie. Here's @HistoryHack podcast on it . Was a privilege to take part in this conversation with director @Stuart_Urban & cast members (I was a bit star struck). youtube.com/watch?v=XbzzY6KQ…

Absolutely stunning in @Stuart_Urban's Ungentlemanly Act. The response he gives to his own talk is gut-wrenching.

🚨News Klaxon🚨From September I will be joining The Sunday Times as a writer & columnist, working across the paper from news to opinion and magazine pages, even the occasional book review. I’ll cover a broad range of foreign policy, diplomatic & defence stories. It’s a very welcome return for me since prior to my many years at the BBC and startup role at The Independent, my first ever newspaper byline was in the Sunday Times

Our 1997 film deals directly if playfully with consent in BDSM. Without approving the conduct of @__NeilGaiman we think @tortoise takes an ignorant and retrograde stance on BDSM, jaw-droppingly judgemental at times in their deep dive.

1/2 Imagine the furore in 80s if @glastonbury had sold Irish flags to wave while the IRA were bombing English cities And yet pro-Hamas merchandise is being sold at Glastonbury just 9 months since terrorist group attacked raped butchered & killed Jewish festival goers in Israel.

A special word today about @mpolachowska who leaves @BBCNewsnight after 35 years on the show. She is a foreign field producer who gave total dedication to the BBC & the teams who worked with her. Smart, tireless, & loyal she saw me through countless trips from Bosnia to Ukraine🙌🏻

It has been one of the greatest privileges of my working life to count you as a colleague Mark. I admired your work before I joined @BBCNewsnight and now admire you as a caring colleague. When I want to understand the world in this defining era you are always my guiding star
🚨personal news🚨I’ll be leaving the BBC at the end of May. Newsnight in its current format will end then, so most posts will go. I decided not to apply for other BBC jobs. Working there for 35 yrs has been life defining: an eyewitness to history collaborating with such brilliant colleagues. But it’s time for a change

So the curtain comes down on another season, and it’s been a great one. Yes we had that warm February and very changeable weather, but overall the snow cover has been fantastic in 4 Vallées and the Valais area of Switzerland more widely. And yet…
