Really thought-provoking clip on timing and, MORE importantly, “arriving on time.”
Finding the balance between attacking and winning space without arriving too early, particularly at the net, and running yourself out of space.
A lot of young players emphasize speed, which is incredibly important, but often fail to connect that speed to spatial awareness and the ability to read and recognize opportunities.
Sometimes, arriving too early eliminates the very space you're trying to exploit. Learning when to attack space, when to preserve it, and how to time your arrival can create offensive opportunities that might otherwise be lost
Rutger McGroarty with an insightful take on the “get to the net” cliché and why timing matters more than simply going to the net:
“I think overall, a lot of people just say, like, ‘Get to the net, get to the net, get to the net.’ But just going to the net, a lot of the time, is just kind of a dumb play, and that's what a lot of people don't realize. If you just go there and get tied up, I think arriving on time is a huge thing. I think that not being at the net front in a battle when the puck's behind the net, because that's worthless. I think that just arriving on time is a huge thing, and that's something that I've tried to work on a lot.” #LetsGoPens

ty jerome is leading the league in scoring through the first week of the season at 34.7 points per game

Remember when everyone came at us cause we were upset they didn’t ship Ristolainen along with Bobby @SuitableAlias

HE JUST CAME BACK???
And this, people, is why we wanted this guy shipped a year ago. His value was never higher and he just simply NEVER stays healthy.
He’s 32 tomorrow. They’re going to end up getting nothing of value for him. Or he walks.
Good job, Danny!
The best passer on the team has 2 assists, so the good news is that when he finally cools off on the goals front, he should just be getting points via apples lol

Michkov keeps scoring. Two more Saturday.
8 goals in 13 games. 8 of the Flyers' 24 goals are his. Team-high 0.54 xG against Anaheim.
He's shooting 42.9%, so that will cool off. The minutes need to stay. 18:18 Saturday, his second straight game over 18.

André Tourigny reflects on coaching Nikita Kucherov with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies during the 2012–13 QMJHL season:
“I won't say any different than what anybody knows about Kuchy. He did not become like that. There's a lot of players where at some point you're 25, 26, 27, 30 years old, and now you understand there's things you need to change. You need to change certain ways you train, or you need to change certain life habits, or whatever.
You can listen to Tom Brady talking and say, ‘Hey, it's later in my career where I figured out my nutrition, or I figured out certain things.’ Kucherov was like that at 19 years old.
He brought a really good culture in our organization because extended time at the rink to work on his body, on his therapy, or he was coming back from a shoulder surgery. A lot of professionalism in the way he prepped. A lot of extended time in the gym, a lot of extended time studying film and stuff like that. So that bled into his teammates, and it was awesome.
And talking with him, I was kind of, okay, it's another level, because when you talk with a junior player, he can be really smart, but he's not as mature in everything. When I talked to Kuchy about games or specific plays or whatever, he knew right away.
He often asked me questions about simple plays. I was kind of, there is not one junior player in 10 years who talked to me about those kinds of things. That's how he was. He's a student of the game.
What you hear about him right now when you talk about how he prepared during the summer, it's exactly the same. I could say stories about him forever, and I had him not that long of a time, but how committed he is at being a hockey player. Kuchy is a hockey player 24/7.” #GoBolts #TusksUp

People will find out that he’s not a winning player. Just a player for clips
