Few people appreciate the challenge of pastoring.
• Be a caring, thoughtful, shepherding presence
• Lead organizationally with vision and skill
• Oh, and prepare a new keynote address every week
Pastors, I'm praying for us. Let's serve in the strength he supplies.

personal agent pitches should not be about dinner reservations
they should be about 100s of school emails, endless signup forms, and 3 games and 2 birthday parties per saturday

Some tidbits from Hurts today...
1. Hurts said watching this system from afar, the QB run game has "not been an element you see." He thinks his legs can be a "unique opportunity," but he left that up to Sean Mannion.
2. This will be the first time since college his play-caller will be in the booth.
3. He used to meet with Jeff Stoutland every Tuesday to discuss the game plan. "A lot of it is new, and the transition is a bit of an evolution," he said.
Jalen Hurts: "I've come into the year thinking about breaking down walls of communication and talking and communicating the things that I'm seeing and whatnot. There is a wall (with Sean Mannion in the coaching booth). But still, have an open dialogue, using the red phone, calling if I see something, hearing him out."

"Every pastor is an interim pastor."
- William Vanderbloemen
My role as a pastor is not to build something big, for my sake.
My role as a pastor is to build something healthy, for the next guy's sake.
Every pastor's daily goal should be to work such that his successor enjoys an even more fruitful, calm, and unified ministry than he does. And to till and plant accordingly.
We're going to be done soon, and quickly forgotten. Good. This church is Christ's. The glory is God's. Let's pray and love our people today and set up our successor to thrive.

The ceiling on your ministry is usually one person: the leader who won't hand anything off.
In Acts 6, the apostles were doing two good things badly. Their fix wasn't working harder. It was structure.
