Why does the Book of Common Prayer put so much emphasis on God’s law? This might seem strange to many modern Christians for whom law and grace stand in stark contrast to one another. I explore this in Part 3 of my series on the theology of the Prayer Book, A School of Prayer. bryanhollon.substack.com/p/s…

NEWS🎉In partnership with @TASeminary, I'm starting a 9 month residency called ANSELM HOUSE. A school of theology where Fellows gather for evening prayer, meals in my home over classical texts, liturgy at St. Aidan’s in KC. Receive up to half your degree theanselmhouse.com This is a dream come true. It's truly integrated, connecting theology to the sacramental life of the church. Named after Anselm of Canterbury, Fellows model faith seeking understanding as they devote themselves to a *Rule of Life* that revolves around prayer, liturgy, contemplation, and virtue over a common table. What makes Anselm House unique? It is *classical* (retrieving the ecumenical creeds and councils), *Thomistic* (committed to the First Principles of Aquinas to answer the metaphysical challenges of our secular age), and *Anglican* (embodying the sacramental spirituality of the Book of Common Prayer and the reformed catholicity of the Thirty-nine Articles). Anselm House is for men and women who desire deeper theological and spiritual formation in community. Whether you are a lay person, a seminary student seeking ordination, or a pastor needing a sabbatical, Anselm House is for you. Spots are limited, so apply soon! Application deadline is Jan 2 theanselmhouse.com/about/ Follow: @TheAnselmHouse Instagram: instagram.com/theanselmhouse… Substack: matthewbarrett.substack.com

My heart is strangely warm after our Choral Evensong tonight at @TASeminary, with visiting Maryland State Boychoir, and a Remembrance theme. A little kid restfully sleeping on the front row, and my wife and baby in the back, as Scripture is reads, Psalms are prayed (including Stanford’s 150), Canticles (Stanford in Bb) and prayers (Quinn responses) are sung…in warm candlelight. Doesn’t get much better :-)

President of Trinity Anglican Seminary, Bryan Hollon, is a theologian. His new article is as careful as it is powerful. *The controversy surrounding Dr. Barrett's conversion to Anglicanism has revealed something that many in our contemporary evangelical communities would prefer not to acknowledge: tradition plays an absolutely necessary and unavoidable role in Christian life and biblical interpretation.* substack.com/home/post/p-169… And what a great title for his article: *Beyond Traditioned Anti-Traditionalism* @TASeminary.

Every Sunday Anglican churches open the Book of Common Prayer to confess the Nicene Creed, equipping their people to stay faithful in a secular age. Trinity Anglican Seminary @TASeminary has invited me to deliver the John Rodgers lectures. Join me! tas.edu/rodgers/ I will share my pilgrimage into Anglicanism and explain why I believe Anglicanism is so unique, capable of leading the way, guiding Christians back to biblical orthodoxy. What a way to celebrate Reformation week!
