This goes without saying but this is *really* bad form. And I can't imagine anyone actually buying anything under these circumstances??
When you signup for a podcast interview via a calendly link and the first email you get is a part-one of a sales drip is not the best look

Also, don't offer someone a free copy of your book in hopes of getting an interview/free promotion out of it and then use that as a reason to sign the host up for your newsletter going forward. Seth Godin's Permission Marketing is all about the permission part. Don't abuse it.

If there’s 1 thing I’ve learned in 33 yrs when it comes to dealing w/ people, it’s that most people don’t know how to be the first to engage others, but most want to be engaged and seek connection. If you can be an engager, life becomes more rich and endless doors open.

Pricing is a signal. What signal do you think it sends if you are the cheapest option for private lessons in your area? And what if you are the most expensive? Each is a signal about who you are and what you do and if you don't value your own work highly, others won't either.

This relates directly to the latest TEM266: Err on the Side of Action. There's a huge difference between in theory and in practice and that only comes about through doing the work. tem.fm/blog/tem266
At some point you have to stop going around talking about all your plans or ‘dream board’ and start doing the work that will help you thrive.

There's a lot of honesty in this thread about the challenges of being a musician right now. Guaranteed this will help someone realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that is a gift. Thank you, @rustiology.

I learned today that the term impressionism was originally derogatory. The powers that be will always be resistant to change - in the arts and in life. So if you are getting resistance, there's a good chance you are on to something.

We invited 17 real people to a warehouse and subjected them to a blind taste test to see which they prefer: $1.99 Liquid Death Flavored Sparkling Water or luxury beverages up to 290x the price. #liquiddeath

You can replace creators with musicians (even though they are not mutually exclusive) and this tweet is still on the nose. On both counts.
Creators massively underestimate the amount of time, effort, and investment it takes to build an audience. But they overestimate the size of an audience they need to support their creations.

This is a great visualization. The beginning of any new thing, when you don't even know what you don't know, is always the hardest. But we can't let that talk us into inaction because it always gets better once we get going.
The first step is the steepest.
