Jan Shatabdi trains are above superfast trains, be it in terms of fare or priority. It's basically A Shatabdi for Common people so to have fast connectivity while providing a Affordable price.

Indian Railways just downgraded some 30+ pairs of Superfast trains including Jan Shatabdis (both JS in Kerala), Garib Raths and premier trains like Goa Express, Karmabhoomi, Black Diamond, Himagiri etc to ordinary express because their avg speeds fell below 55 kph.
Says a lot.

Garibrath and Janshatabdi trains were Degraded to Express from Superfast.
Guess? These trains are classified as "Premium trains" that has similar priority to Duronto , Rajdhani and now, Reduced to Mail/Express.
From the Purpose, Livery everything is gone!

The best Era was 2017-22 trains Remained punctual, Categories remained as it is, Purpose of the trains was considered, Stoppages were rationalising

Credit where it's due! From 33% to 99% railway electrification in just 12 years. That's genuinely impressive.
And it's not just electrification. Indian Railways has seen a massive transformation in infrastructure, new trains, station redevelopment, cleanliness and overall passenger facilities.
Look at Delhi alone: four major railway stations are undergoing redevelopment, alongside projects like Gurugram station redevelopment, RRTS and the bullet train.
The next decade could be a massive turning point for Indian Railways. As these projects are completed and the results become visible on the ground, the scale of transformation could be extraordinary.

The fact is that only 7% of Indian trains are modern or high-speed trains like this (including metro trains, shatabdi express, etc). Services on existing traditional train sets have also improved.
In 2010, only 15% of Indian trains were electrified. Today the figure is 99.7%.
There were only 500 km of expressways in 2010; today the number is 9,000 km. There were only 71,000 km of national highways in 2010; today the number is 146,000 km.
Soon all the traditional, stereotypical Indian trains will be replaced with modern trains.
