It costs $132,680 a year to incarcerate someone in California. This program, meanwhile, pays out $599 a year max to each person. If you’re actually concerned about taxpayer dollars & bang for the buck, then this sort of ire is misplaced.
Occasionally I wonder why California taxes are so much higher than other deep-blue West Coast states.
