30 years ago today, Eddie George brought the Heisman back to Columbus, becoming Ohio State’s sixth winner. His ’95 campaign was one for the ages: 24 touchdowns, 1,927 rushing yards, and a legacy that still stands tall. Pay homage.

Note: It’s okay to admit that Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are not rivals. It’s okay to say that there’s no real bad blood between them. It’s okay to acknowledge that Angel Reese doesn’t need this rivalry to benefit her, validate her, or keep her relevant. It’s okay to recognize that she’s built her own lane without it. It’s okay to not have to keep linking players’ names to Caitlin Clark in order to keep her story interesting. It’s okay to let Caitlin Clark shine on her own without having to constantly pit her against other players. It’s okay to stop asking players about Caitlin Clark before/after games. It’s okay to want more balance in how stories are told. And it’s okay to want space for everyone to be celebrated without tension, labels, or agendas.

We’re constantly told that Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are “rivals”, and today we were even told that Reese “hates” Clark simply for reacting to a flagrant foul committed against her. The negative press around Reese will never stop. No matter what she does, there will always be a new attempt to twist it into something negative. And yet, she doesn’t respond. She keeps playing. Keeps going. Angel Reese is one of the best players at her position. A power forward’s job is to score, rebound, and defend. And she does all three. But instead of focusing on her game, certain sports media outlets would rather push a storyline they created themselves. A “rivalry” built for clicks—not rooted in truth. And the fact that so many either don’t see it or pretend not to is what’s truly disappointing. Angel Reese is the most scrutinized player in the WNBA. From what she wears to what she says, how she looks, how she plays, who she talks to, and who she hangs around—nothing seems to be off-limits. Some fans will defend it by saying, “She’s a celebrity. People have the right to say what they want.” But deep down, we know that’s not what this is about. If this were really about basketball, then everything would be left on the floor. The stats would speak for themselves. The games would do the talking. And what they’d say is that Caitlin Clark is good at what she does—and so is Angel Reese. Hate is a strong word, and we don’t use it lightly. But someone here is clearly being hated. And we can assure you—it isn’t Caitlin Clark. Look this is not a rivalry. Not a real one anyway. It’s something else entirely, though it’s hard to name. What’s clear is that it shouldn’t take manufactured conflict to elevate a league already filled with talent. The game deserves better. So do the players.
