The operator of a new Deposit Return Schemes for single-use plastic and metal drinks containers in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland has been announced as UK Deposit Management Organisation, reports @TalkingRetail. talkingretail.com/news/indus… All UK nations are working together to bring in this scheme to create a closed loop recycling system - guaranteeing the material is returned and recycled into new drinks containers. This will mean when you buy a drink, you'll pay a small deposit in addition to the price of the drink. When you return your empty, undamaged container to a return point, you get your deposit back in full. The scheme is currently planned for October 2027. At WRAP, we support the introduction of a well-designed Deposit Return Scheme.
