The situation at the Mabomo platform offshore Gabon becomes a bit clearer. The Mabomo production platform is a converted “Self Elevating Offshore Drilling Unit. Note, the missing derrick. Phase one called for 6 development wells, followed by 4-6 more. It has a well bay with 12 wellbore slots available for dry trees. Additionally, it appears there is a subsea tieback from a FPSO. Bottom line, the FPSO may/may not be shut in. The production platform itself is likely shut-in pending damage assessment! Next steps will be, if not already underway, the identification of the debris field laying on the mudline, and subsequent damage to subsea infrastructure.
