“In a former job I was part of the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) for an East London Borough. I was on the panel in my official capacity at the time.
"The role of the panel was to look into the death of every child under 18 & look for ways in which they could be prevented in the future.
"Around 75% of all child deaths were as a result of genetic disorders caused as a consequence of consanguinity (1st cousins having children with 1st cousins). Everyone of these were children of Pakistani/Bangladesh nationals where at least one of the parents was not born in the UK & often neither had UK citizenship.
"The cost of the care of these children ran into the millions & despite repeated efforts to raise this amongst health professionals to raise awareness & try and reduce the child deaths and therefore the costs to NHS.
"We were consistently told that we would be able to speak to community ‘leaders’ & raise awareness but this blocked at every opportunity by the senior leaders of NHS, Police & other agencies too scared to be accused of racism & ‘Islamophobia’.
"This is a national health emergency which firstly should not even be happening in the UK as cousin marriage should be illegal, secondly the cost to the NHS and being payable to people who have e never paid into the system is millions of pounds of net loss and thirdly senior leaders in these areas knowingly allow this to continue.

We have a new political prisoner Derek Heggie, who pleaded guilty to posting racially aggravated comments online. His crime was to say on YouTube that “young white girls are being raped by these grooming gangs that worship the Prophet Muhammad”.
Remanded into custody he'll be sentenced on 13 Dec by Carlisle Crown Court.
