Nice throw from Stroud to Harrison here putting it away from the LB. Thought Harrison played well in his reps he got and excited to see him get more opportunities post bye.

The Giants pressured Stroud on 55.3% of his dropbacks yesterday via NextGenStats and caused Stroud to look out of rhythm for really the first time this year. Stroud passes on the crosser to Boutte who has plenty of open space and tries to force this ball to Nico who is essentially bracketed.

Texans WRs Routes Run in Week 7 via @SumerSports. Jaylin Noel likely finishes 2nd on this list but left early due to an injury. Tank Dell & Marvin Harrison Jr. ran 14 combined routes today but would expect that number to increase out of the bye. Xavier Hutchinson lead the WRs in targets today.

The Texans issues preventing explosive plays showed up again today. J.J. McCarthy generated a 19.4% explosive play rate which was the 4th highest of his career but a 32.3% success rate (2nd lowest) via @NextGenStats. 7 completions of 15+ for McCarthy today.

The Rockets have done a nice job with these off-ball screen actions this year, this time with Reed & Sengun. Forces McCollum to go over with the threat of Sheppard, easy slip to Sengun and the help leaves Durant wide open. Nice to see Udoka tapping into more off-ball action and player movement this year while letting KD be a play finisher.

The Texans defense has allowed 29 completions of 20+ yards so far, which is tied for the most in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. They are allowing an explosive pass on 11.8% of their dropbacks compared to 8.7% last year. (@SumerSports)

The Texans used Braden Smith on 22 snaps and ran on 19 of those. Houston averaged just 3.21 YPC on those runs. Nick Caley did a great job last week of mixing up with the jumbo packages and hunting explosives with the pass protection. This week it reverted back to early season. (@SumerSports)

I thought Henry To’oTo’o had a nice day vs the Jaguars and excited to see what else he will bring to the defense in the coming weeks. He played some of his best football in the last postseason for Houston and continues to improve at the WILL spot. The defense certainly missed him in his time out dealing with his shoulder injury.

C.J. Stroud is playing with excellent timing right now and is especially showing trust in Nico Collins to win in man coverage here. Collins could definitely be called for an OPI here, but no flag and a huge 3rd & long conversion for the offense late in the 4th.

Will Anderson Jr. leads the NFL with 37 pressures, 7.5 sacks, and 18 quick pressures this season via @NextGenStats. Anderson has his fastest time to pressure of his career so far this year at 2.55 seconds and is also converting his pressures into sacks at a career rate of 20.3%.

Another big week for the Texans playoff chances. Currently sit at right around 40% at a playoff spot via PFF, with a win that jumps to around 45%. With a loss, it falls back down to the 20-25% range. Houston has very winnable games on the horizon but needs to take care of business.

Jaylin Noel is one of those players who just moves different than everybody else on the field. Excellent call from Nick Caley here and Noel’s ability to stop and start is next level. Noel has caught his last 15 targets with the only incompletions targeting him this season coming against the Bengals in Week 2. He’s your WR2 until further notice.

Nick Caley brought back the Texans "Stover Cat" short-yardage package on Sunday, which should help their poor short-yardage offense so far. I continue to be impressed with Nick Caley's ability to self-scout and try new things when he realizes they can't be the offense he wants them to be. Houston went 3-5 in their 3rd and short situations, with the final Stover push being one I thought was a poor spot.

Kayden McDonald's early returns have been extremely positive, with his snap count increasing to 29 defensive snaps this week. He takes on the double team from Pregnon and Hainsey, which he sheds and shuts down this run, along with M.J. Stewart.

Texans Target Share over the last 3 weeks (since Nico Collins returned). Stroud has done an excellent job spreading the ball around with 5 players having 12+ targets along with Marks and Moreau having 6+. (@FantasyPtsData)

C.J. Stroud says he thought he may have missed Marvin Harrison Jr. on the fake screen late in the game. Here’s that play & there is an opportunity to give Harrison a shot here.

The Jaguars let Emmanuel Pregnon & Kayden McDonald get a 1v1 rep here near the goal-line and it was a clear win for McDonald. Wins quickly and then gets grabbed by Pregnon but no hold was called. Houston gave Pregnon fits in the run game yesterday.

The Jaguars tried to confuse & throw different sim pressure looks at Stroud with basically no success. Stroud floats this ball perfectly to Schultz to beat the dropping LB. He has taken a massive step forward this year with his pre and post-snap processing.

Big run from Jawhar Jordan on the final drive to get in a better FG spot for Ka’imi Fairbairn. Keylan Rutledge & Evan Brown take care of Arik Armstead + Ventrell Miller slips which opens this up for Jordan. Changed the kick from a potential 55+ yarder to 49.
