The Limpopo Premier and provincial police have acknowledged that crime has decreased significantly since marches against illegal immigration began.

Minister @mmkubayi , SA can't afford further delays on immigration reform. Urgently review our UN Refugee Convention commitments, phase out ZEP/LEP & implement return processes. With unemployment at crisis levels, protecting citizens’ access to scarce jobs must be a priority.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration (IMC) is satisfied with the outcomes of a meeting it held with organisations behind anti-illegal migration marches across the country, confirming a new partnership. #MorningLive #SABCNews

My foreign brothers and sisters living in South Africa, it is time we stop pretending that this problem will solve itself. South Africa is a country, not a refuge for an entire continent that has given up on fixing its own problems. We cannot all abandon our countries, run to South Africa and expect South Africans to carry the consequences of our governments’ failures. South Africans fought for their freedom in 1994. What is stopping us from going home, voting, challenging corrupt leaders and fighting for better governments? How long are we going to keep running away while our countries fall apart? We are putting so much pressure on South Africa that we risk destroying one of the few remaining places people still run to for opportunities. And when South Africa reaches breaking point, where exactly are we going to go? Europe? America? Another African country already struggling with the same problems? We cannot keep exporting our problems from one African country to another and expect the continent to prosper. Genuine asylum seekers deserve protection, and criminality should never be attributed to an entire nationality. But those of us who have the freedom to return home must ask ourselves some uncomfortable questions. If every African who is unhappy with their government runs away instead of fighting for change, who will be left to fix those countries? We cannot all be refugees from our own responsibilities while expecting someone else’s country to survive the burden. Go home. Vote. Demand better. Fight for your country. Because if we destroy every place we run to instead of fixing the places we come from, eventually, there will be nowhere left to run.

My honest advice to all asylum seekers in SA 🇿🇦. The same way you fled your own countries, I advise you to do so again, since South Africa has become extremely dangerous for you. Go and seek asylum in a safe country like Zimbabwe or Botswana.

It looks like history is repeating itself. A new revolution has begun in South Africa. The ANC, DA, EFF, and every other political party that stands against the will of the masses must be removed from power. People shall govern.🇿🇦 #VoteWise SA is our only home.

Currently reading the @_AfricanUnion Migration Policy Framework and I am actually shocked at how many of its recommendations align with what South Africans have been demanding!Screening asylum seekers at borders, securing borders, regulating labour migration, combating illegal immigration and returning those who have no legal right to remain! These are not recommendations from some so called xenophobic organisation. They come from the AFRICAN UNION itself! So can our government explain why South Africans are vilified for demanding measures that the very AU they constantly preach about actually recommends? What exactly is preventing this government from implementing these recommendations? Why are we forever lectured about Pan Africanism when we demand immigration enforcement yet the AU itself recognises the importance of border security and regulated migration? @ClaysonMonyela @DIRCO_ZA @PresidencyZA @CyrilRamaphosa @HomeAffairsSA

This is the greatest betrayal of the nation! 🇿🇦 SA must withdraw from the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol, then re-accede with appropriate reservations to protect our national interests, sovereignty, and the rights of our citizens. @mmkubayi @Khu_Ntshavheni

Security strategist Andy Mashaile says: “Some of the so-called asylum seekers come here solely to commit crimes.” Home Affairs’ reported that 95% are fake asylum seekers. SA🇿🇦 must withdraw from the 1951 Refugee Convention & its 1967 Protocol, then re-acceding with reservations

Why is Pan-Africanism always about flooding other people’s countries, rather than promoting trade, cooperation, and a shared currency?

The @Our_DA @helenzille , like the @MYANC , @EFFSouthAfrica , @Rise_Mzansi , @BuildOneSA and PAC, is pushing for permanent residence for foreigners who don't qualify for other SA visas. ZEPs were granted because holders don't qualify for any visa in SA. #TerminateAndDeport

South Africans across all races & tribes deserve answers: What are these military-age aliens coming to do here when our own citizens face unemployment and scarce resources? Why won’t @GovernmentZA reconsider the 1951 UN Refugee Convention under Article 44 @mmkubayi @Leon_Schreib

If a wealthy economy like the UK considers suspending asylum applications for 5 years to protect its resources for its own citizens, why does @GovernmentZA , with a far weaker economy and millions of people struggling, believe it can absorb the entire African continent?@mmkubayi

The crux of the issue in the ConCourt judgment The ConCourt judgment amongst other matters ruled that a person who is illegal in South Africa cannot be arrested and deported IF they express an INTENTION to apply for asylum. Effectively, if an illegal immigrant just EXPRESSES an intention to apply for asylum they have to be released. Yes we know asylum application doesn’t mean refugee status nor citizenship. The crux of the issue is what does an asylum application mean and what is afforded to people who merely posses a Section 22 permit. A Section 22 permit is a legal document that is issued to an individual that has applied for asylum in South Africa whilst they await for Home Affairs to make a decision. A holder of a Section 22 permit can access SRD grants, is legally enabled to study, be employed and run businesses in South Africa. Auditor General back in 2020 stated, to clear the backlog on asylum applications and appeals, if no new applications are received it will take 68 years for Home Affairs to clear the backlog. Home Affairs indicates, it takes between 5-10 years for a decision to be finalised on an asylum application given the appeals & court processes. This is unlikely to change as the Refugee Status Determination Officers are less than a 100 for the whole country. The troubling feature as stated by Home Affairs is that 95% of asylum applications are denied as not meeting the legal requirements of a refugee. Home Affairs doesn’t have a system to track and trace individuals who are asylum applicants. Most asylum applicants receive the Section 22 permit fail to report to Refugee Reception Office & continue to live in SA without lawful documentation. Home Affairs doesn’t have systems to adequately ascertain whether asylum seekers are not fugitives. Fulgence Kayishema was criminally indicted for the killing of 2000 people in Rwanda. He came to South Africa seeking asylum and was given a refugee status, he lived in the country under a false name for more than 20 years working. The Employment Services Amendment Bill proposes a removal of an “asylum seeker” in the definition of a foreign national. Meaning a foreign national who is illegal in the country, who has just merely applied for asylum is afforded the same rights as a citizen. This is even though 95% of asylum applications do not meet legal requirements and it takes a minimum of 5 years for an application to be finalised. In those years, they are legally entitled to work just like citizens. The anger directed to the South African government by its citizens is legitimate. This ruling effectively means an illegal immigrant can have legal status in South Africa through an asylum application. Even though 95% of these applications are not legitimate, they will still get to have access to work and business opportunities, SRD grants until the applications are finalised which takes years.

Big business wants cheap labour, even if millions more immigrants arrive while South Africans struggle with unemployment. @Our_DA, @MYANC, @EFFSouthAfrica, @Rise_Mzansi and @BuildOneSA serve the interests of big business at the expense of ordinary South Africans. #NoVote4Them.

Compassion without capacity is not sustainable. We need an honest conversation about what we can and cannot do as country for anyone just arriving in our country and claiming asylum.
