Blizzard previously claimed that it wouldn't sell World of Warcraft housing items based on in-game playable races for real money. It lied. windowscentral.com/gaming/bl… WoW: Retail and Midnight keeps piling on the disappointment ahead of WoW: Forever.

A programming contractor delivered a game milestone that was broken and full of problems, when the client asked for fixes, the contractor said he couldn’t do them because he didn’t understand what he had made. The client then discovered the milestone had been entirely vibe-coded Even worse, the contractor had put confidential game information into the AI tool to create it, which was also a breach of confidentiality. Video game lawyer Haley MacLean said the contractor didn’t get paid and had simply wasted the client’s time. “Just because you can order at a restaurant doesn’t mean you’re a chef.” MacLean says anti-AI clauses are increasingly becoming standard in game development contracts because of risks around confidentiality, copyright and ownership.

We need to have a serious conversations on what reviews are evaluating about games and who their target audience is🚀 I’m not saying the games on the left side are necessarily deserving 100%, but how did they get a 60% from Eurogamer while Dragon Age: The Veilguard got 100%?🚀 By what metric are these aspects being judged, because I’m sure as hell none of them reflect what players prioritize in games, which ultimately is audience that is supposed to read and base their decision on🤔

Two addons that could completely change World PvP in WoW Forever. If you're planning to play World PvP in WoW Forever, there are two addons I genuinely think everyone should know about: OVERLORD + WAR EFFORT I've been using these during the beta, and after experiencing some incredible large-scale battles, I honestly believe these addons could play a huge role in keeping World PvP alive for years. Here's what makes them so interesting. 1. OVERLORD – Giving World PvP a purpose Developed by @TromaFR Overlord turns the open world into a battlefield where Horde and Alliance have actual reasons to fight each other. Instead of just randomly killing players, you're fighting for objectives, territory and faction dominance. What does Overlord offer? - Territory control and capturable objectives across Azeroth. - Guild keeps and outposts to capture and defend. - Player and guild PvP leaderboards. - Honorable kill and objective tracking. - Notifications about ongoing battles. - Opportunities for organized, large-scale faction warfare. Imagine your guild capturing an important objective, only for an Alliance raid to arrive and challenge you. You call for reinforcements, other guilds join the battle, and suddenly an entire zone turns into a massive Horde vs Alliance war. That's exactly the kind of World PvP I want to experience. And there's more coming! The Overlord developer is also working on a dedicated website, with plans for player and guild leaderboards and additional information. Having an external place to follow the World PvP competition could make things even more interesting. 2. WAR EFFORT – Finding the fights Developed by @poutinewow While Overlord gives us reasons to fight, War Effort helps us actually find those fights. It creates a scouting network where players can share information about enemy activity across Azeroth. What does War Effort offer? - Enemy group sightings displayed on the world map. - Information about enemy locations and group sizes. - Layer information to help players reach the action. - Alerts about enemy activity. - Shared scouting information between players. - Kill-on-sight lists and scouting objectives. - Integration with Overlord objectives. Think about what this means for organized World PvP. Your guild is defending an objective in Ashenvale. Suddenly, scouts report a large Alliance group moving toward your position. You know where they're coming from, how many players have been spotted and where reinforcements are needed. Instead of randomly searching for PvP, you're preparing for an actual battle. That's what makes War Effort so valuable. 3. WHY THESE ADDONS WORK SO WELL TOGETHER This is where I believe the real potential lies. OVERLORD gives players a reason to fight. WAR EFFORT helps players find the fight. One creates meaningful objectives and competition. The other helps players communicate, locate enemies and organize battles around those objectives. And both become more valuable when more people use them. Imagine entire guilds coordinating attacks, defending territory, tracking enemy movements and fighting for their faction across Azeroth. That's the kind of World PvP community I'd love to see develop in WoW Forever. 4. LET'S GET THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED Whether you're Horde or Alliance, a solo player or part of a large PvP guild, I really encourage you to give both addons a try. The more players who participate, the more opportunities we create for large-scale battles. And after seeing what's already possible during the beta, I genuinely think we're only getting started. Huge respect to both developers for putting so much effort into making World PvP more enjoyable. Download the addons here: OVERLORD: curseforge.com/wow/addons/ov… WAR EFFORT: curseforge.com/wow/addons/wa… NOW I'M CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR OPINION. Do you think addons like Overlord and War Effort could help keep World PvP alive long-term in WoW Forever? And would your guild participate in organized battles over territory and objectives? I'd love to hear what both Horde and Alliance players think. If you know a World PvP player or guild that hasn't heard about these addons yet, share this with them. Let's make Azeroth a proper battlefield again. #WoWForever #WorldPvP #Warcraft #WoWPvP

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold 8.7 million copies and generated around $366 million in revenue, according to Alinea Analytics. -58.8% on Steam -5.5% on Xbox The game also had 4.3 million Game Pass players, which may have reduced Xbox sales but it also helped more people discover the game. Make amazing games, sell like crazy? Who would have wondered this

Gears of War: E-Day reportedly cost over $500 million to develop, excluding marketing. A source familiar with Xbox’s business says the budget exceeds earlier reports of over $400 million. Alinea Analytics estimates around 230,000 copies sold in the first week, generating about $37 million. Microsoft has not yet released official sales or player numbers. A PS5 release probably wouldn’t have solved the problem. Gears of War: Reloaded sold 684,000 copies on PS5, which would have added roughly $33 million in revenue for E-Day after platform fees. If true, the studio is cooked, Asha is coming for them.

Very sad news about BioWare. One of my favourite studios back in the day. But for the nth time: if you cost too much, carry too many staff and take too long then you are pre-dead. Ubisoft, BioWare, Bungie the list goes on. The teams and work style that built them has been lost.

once you start playing older games you begin to understand that graphics were never as important as gameplay

Gears of War: E-Day is better than you think, but worse than it should be. A few words on the gameplay, “Gears of Woke,” and the execution. THE GOOD The graphics, especially in the second half, can feel truly next-gen. The world never feels fully organic, since the cover system forces it onto a grid, but in scope and scale it’s the video game equivalent of Avengers. A few moments are genuinely breathtaking. The soundtrack might be the best in the franchise. Mid-fight I forgot to notice most of it, which is praise in itself. THE NEUTRAL This is old-school Gears. If that’s what you want, that’s what you get. Personally, I think the cover system has passed its expiry date: snapping to walls just doesn’t thrill anymore. Remnant proved a great TPP shooter doesn’t need a grid. And before you protest: GTA changed its CCC (character, camera, control) once, and it worked out fine. I’d love a first-person Gears. Still, if the next one keeps the good old clunky cover, I’m buying it anyway. THE BAD Unfortunately, there’s a lot. The game crashes more than it should due to gameplay and scripting bugs, the UI is god-awful, and I soft-locked myself once. But the biggest problem is the story. It’s 2026; I can demand a good story from a video game. E-Day is Bravo Squad thrown around town for bullshit reasons, and then it ends. The tragedy of Emergence Day boils down to screaming, NPCs you can never save, piles of corpses, and a few gory scenes. What should have been an emotional apocalypse reads mostly like a dry weather report. The dialogue is often bad, and so is the delivery. In a game that cost hundreds of millions, some of it sounds like the devs recorded it themselves. And the peak issue: like many others in the last decade, the game has been hijacked for propaganda. I don’t mind that a disabled black lesbian plays an important role. I mind how she, and every other woman in the game, is written. Mags Carter is walking perfection: always right, always gets the last word, best ideas, and often takes the lead because reasons. Same goes for the heroic pilot, the virtuous mayor, the tough-but-understanding captain. Unlike the men, every woman is written by a writer on his knees, and it’s not only transparent, it’s embarrassing. The women of the new Gears aren’t characters. They’re statements. So here’s my biggest Gears puzzle: how do you spend hundreds of millions, involve thousands of people, and still let the madmen run the asylum? Why inject so much estrogen into a franchise people loved for its testosterone? VERDICT Good enough if you need every bit of Gears lore or just want to live inside a blockbuster. Fingers crossed the next one returns to the franchise’s original spirit, not just in gameplay but in story too.

The "Spoken" addon is incredible. We have had AI voice acting add ons, but none of them could read in the "click voice" for the characters. Some of them would assign a random voice to an NPC. This one gives you the NPC's click voice, and even does inflections. This is seriously impressive.
