Blizzard previously claimed that it wouldn't sell World of Warcraft housing items based on in-game playable races for real money.
It lied.

"that comes out to roughly $5,000,000 of overhead"... oh... oh my sweet summer child. Whoever wrote this has absolutely no idea how developing a product works. And I don't just mean gamedev, I mean *any* product, in *any* industry. #gamedev

So the iPhone duo screen is broken after around 2-3 years of use, and that's without sand/dirt introduced... for £2000 to £3200. Yikes. Absolute yikes.
The iPhone Duo just failed at around 75,000 folds in an independent durability test, At 100 folds a day, 75,000 cycles would be just over two years.
Put that next to Samsung’s numbers and the difference is insane
>iPhone Duo: 75,000 folds in the test
>Galaxy Z Fold8: up to 500,000 folds
That’s over 6× more folding cycles on Samsung’s rating.
A Galaxy Z Fold7 was manually folded 200,000 times and was still functioning at the end of the test

A programming contractor delivered a game milestone that was broken and full of problems, when the client asked for fixes, the contractor said he couldn’t do them because he didn’t understand what he had made.
The client then discovered the milestone had been entirely vibe-coded
Even worse, the contractor had put confidential game information into the AI tool to create it, which was also a breach of confidentiality.
Video game lawyer Haley MacLean said the contractor didn’t get paid and had simply wasted the client’s time.
“Just because you can order at a restaurant doesn’t mean you’re a chef.”
MacLean says anti-AI clauses are increasingly becoming standard in game development contracts because of risks around confidentiality, copyright and ownership.
SP are a 1 project studio. They finished the current project. 26 people is 10%~ of staff. Keeping 90% of staff when youre starting dev on your next project, as a 1 project studio, is very good. The 26 positions will make little to no difference to operational capabilities. #gamedev
Sucker Punch has laid off 26 employees just a little over a year after the release of its last game and just weeks after Ghost of Yotei's DLC and Complete Edition were released on PS5. bit.ly/4snaQBW
I did wonder at what point 40k~ sales is going to impact 90+ full time employees. #gamedev

@Eurostars hotels is refusing to refund the booking we made at the Crizol Mozart in December for Tilly's 16th birthday, despite sending a letter from the ICU to them, asking for an exemption given the circumstances. Absolutely disgusting outcome from their manager "John". #hotel
I don't know how to write this. I've rewritten it about 10 times. But as many people have messaged me about it: this is what happened to my daughter, Tilly, on Thursday morning. She's had a very serious operation on her skull to give her the best chance at recovery/healing. She's stable, in ICU, with incredible staff looking after her every minute. Now we just have to wait and see where things go. We've been through shock, anguish, a panic attack (which I've never had, so that was an interesting one), and heartbreak, and I'm now in the numb-but-falling-apart-if-I-stop-and-think-about-it phase. We have a long road ahead, and I don't know what will happen, it's just day by day for now. Do me a favour: go hug someone you love, when you can. 🫂❤️

We need to have a serious conversations on what reviews are evaluating about games and who their target audience is🚀
I’m not saying the games on the left side are necessarily deserving 100%, but how did they get a 60% from Eurogamer while Dragon Age: The Veilguard got 100%?🚀
By what metric are these aspects being judged, because I’m sure as hell none of them reflect what players prioritize in games, which ultimately is audience that is supposed to read and base their decision on🤔

Eurogamer really doesn’t seem to be a fan of Chinese games.
Phantom Blade Zero -60/100
Black Myth: Wukong -60/100
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers -60/100
And then Dragon Age: The Veilguard 100/100.
You cant make this shit up

Tapping the sign again. People voted with their wallets 👍💪 Now, we can only hope that lessons were learned, and that the mistakes of the past will not be repeated in the future, if any of those IPs are used again. The public majority are screaming for what they want. Give it to them. #gamedev
Regarding all discourse, drama, and shenanigans involving #videogames, ever. There is only ever one, single, answer to it all: VOTE 👏 WITH👏 YOUR👏 WALLET👏. Buy and play what *YOU* like. For whatever reason you like it. Do not buy, and do not play, what you don't like. And remember: you don't *HAVE* to like anything, for *ANY* reason you want. You do you. Enjoy your life. ❤️ #games #gamedev

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold 8.7 million copies and generated around $366 million in revenue, according to Alinea Analytics.
-58.8% on Steam
-5.5% on Xbox
The game also had 4.3 million Game Pass players, which may have reduced Xbox sales but it also helped more people discover the game.

I guess I can say it now - so when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like.
EA own the IP, and for a company: that's the most valuable part. Sure EA could give a staff group + Canadian gov first dibs *IF* they sold the studio name Bioware, but if they wanted to buy the IP... there's an absolutely unimaginable cost to do that. So they'd almost certainly be starting from scratch, and at that point: the group might as well just start a new studio with the same people - it'd cost less, be easier, and they'd get a lot more easy-to-access gov support. EA might be sat there thinking: ok, give us $500m for the Bioware name, easy money for us, but you're not getting the IP for that, because we still have a bit of a long tail on some of the existing IP sales. If you want that IP, well, what would our projected sales for the good Bioware games + remasters + any projects we get other studios to make with the IP, for the next 100 years? ...and thats a big, BIG number. #gamedev
A Canadian political leader is calling for the government to help BioWare developers buy the studio from EA and run it themselves.
NDP leader Avi Lewis says the developers should get the first shot at taking control, with government support.
“The developers at BioWare know how to run the studio. They know how to make the games we all love.”
He also criticized corporate ownership, arguing that Canada should keep control of major game studios in Canadian hands.

Gears of War: E-Day reportedly cost over $500 million to develop, excluding marketing.
A source familiar with Xbox’s business says the budget exceeds earlier reports of over $400 million.
Alinea Analytics estimates around 230,000 copies sold in the first week, generating about $37 million. Microsoft has not yet released official sales or player numbers.
A PS5 release probably wouldn’t have solved the problem. Gears of War: Reloaded sold 684,000 copies on PS5, which would have added roughly $33 million in revenue for E-Day after platform fees.
If true, the studio is cooked, Asha is coming for them.
