From the Dunnes Stores workers standing against apartheid to Irish artists standing with Palestine.
Different generation. Different struggle. Same Irish instinct to stand up when staying quiet would be easier.
Thank God some things never change. 🇮🇪
Buckley calling for unionist unity..
Lockhart preparing to go rogue..
Robinson looking increasingly like a leader in name only..
He can't keep his own party together, never mind unite unionism.
Possibly the weakest unionist leader they've ever had..
Long may he reign..

The deputy First Minister has decided to block representation from here at major political event, which would include meeting with the First Ministers of Scotland and Wales, and the British Prime Minister.
It is for the people to decide who represents them as First Minister. Not the DUP.
Strange that the 15,000 Jamie claims were in Portadown last night couldn't find the time to sign it.. 🤔
Grandstanding at the side of a road is one thing. Putting your name to a position and being held accountable for it is quite another..
Watching Jon Burrows on The View last night..

Ahh, Timothy, Timothy, Timothy, so you're one of those who makes excuses for loyalist paramilitarism while pontificating endlessly about the IRA, all the while marching alongside your fellow supposedly “religious people” under banners celebrating the UDA/UVF.
You demand political consequences over Drumcree while defending your own participation in marches carrying UVF/UDA banners with the pathetic excuse, “But it was the 1912 UVF.” So using your logic, republicans can now say" Ahh but it was the old IRA of 1919," and they would be grand then
And what exactly do you think the original UVF was, Timothy? It was an armed unionist sectarian militia, established in 1913, prepared to use force to defy democratic Home Rule. Its illegal gunrunning and threatened armed resistance hardly represent the peaceful democratic principles you claim to defend.
Apparently, when unionists threaten violence, it's glorious heritage. When republicans do it, it's terrorism.
And here's another question, Timothy. Where exactly does your Christian faith fit into all this?
The Orange Order claims to uphold Christian values, brotherhood, charity and religious devotion. So how do you reconcile those principles with marching beneath banners commemorating armed terrorist murderous organisations while condemning similar symbolism from the other community?
Maybe you can share with us what part of Christian teaching encourages celebrating organisations associated with violence, intimidation and sectarian division? Where do forgiveness, humility, compassion and loving thy neighbour enter the equation?
You cannot wrap yourself in Christianity on a Sunday, excuse loyalist militarism on a Monday, and spend the rest of the week delivering sermons about republican criminality.
Either condemn paramilitary violence consistently, Timothy, or explain why your moral standards change with the colour of the flag, and you can't do what all unionists claim: "I condemn terrorism unequivocally across the board", and then march at a memorial or walk in a parade alongside terrorist banners or sit on panels with ex-prisoners and then demonise Sinn Féin for doing the same.
If Gavin had balls he'd suspend her first..

Busy morning in the Bosco Cafe - 52 sandwiches, 70 scones and tray bakes out the door. Coffees, teas, sausage rolls and fry’s for the windblown who came in out of the rain this lunchtime. All managed, prepared and delivered by young people 💪
If you don't like her, don't vote for her..
Simple enough..
Although actually electing someone to Stormont would be a novelty for unionism..
If unionist voters are happy to accept that the DUP knew nothing about Jeffrey Donaldson's behaviour in Westminster, that's on them.
A generation of scandals has done little to
dent the DUP vote.
Perhaps it depends on the colour of the scandal..
Jeffrey Donaldson is to be interviewed by London police about an alleged rape of a woman, inside the Houses of Parliament, the BBC can reveal.

In Prague..
Saying a wee prayer that our loyalist neighbours discover there's more to Christianity than marching, flags and trying to tell everyone else what to do..
Amen.

Jeysus its becoming more obvious that you are determined to make yourself the centre of this entire Drumcree fiasco, but the selective interpretation of today’s court evidence is quite something.
A court considering the risk of disorder is not the same as finding that peaceful residents were a violent mob. That’s a rather important distinction you conveniently are ignoring here
And here’s the bit you deliberately omitted. The PSNI also warned of potential violence from loyalist paramilitaries supporting the parade, growing frustration within loyalism and increasing numbers of loyalists potentially descending on Portadown.
Funny how none of that made it into your little analysis.
So apparently intelligence about dissident republican threats makes an entire nationalist community a “mob”, but intelligence about loyalist paramilitary violence barely warrants a mention?
Problem is Jamie, Residents have every right to peaceful protest. They aren’t collectively responsible for threats made by dissident republicans, any more than every unionist is responsible for loyalist paramilitaries.
Perhaps what’s really frustrating here my legal eagle chum, is that the days of simply forcing an Orange parade through a community against its wishes are over.
Calling residents a mob won’t change that. And selectively quoting police intelligence doesn’t make you a champion of law and order. It simply exposes the hypocrisy as we know you don’t mind mingling with the odd paramilitary

I said when this Garvaghy Road thing started that the Fleadh scared the shit outta them. Everyone in Belfast coming together & enjoying everything the island of Ireland has to offer. The inclusion of loyalist bands sent them over the edge
1.65 million city centre visits.
Over £65m in economic benefits.
Communities coming together through music and culture.
The Fleadh showed Northern Ireland at its best.
The TUV response tells you everything about unionism at its worst..
A Belfast City councillor has raised the possibility of a “week of protests” being held at next year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann following the Drumcree dispute.

I’m sure Carla, given her sudden obsession with paramilitary involvement, will be firing off an equally strongly worded letter demanding to know whether the UVF or UDA were involved in the protest at Scarva, particularly the men she stood beside, will you share that when it happens please?
And while she’s at it, perhaps she could investigate whether paramilitaries were involved in recent loyalist protests too. In fact, why stop there? Let’s apply the same scrutiny to every parade and protest across NI, thinks it’s only fair that we know who is involved in these events, absolutely
You’re absolutely right. We need answers. All of us. Not just when it suits a particular political agenda.
Or perhaps someone could ask Carla about the cost of living, rising household bills, fuel prices and the actual issues affecting her constituents.
Can people not see what the DUP are about? They can’t operate as a party unless there is conflict, they were born out of it. Controversy after controversy, they toxic, sexual assault, fraud, homaphobia, misogyny, discrimination, sectarianism, should I go on? Ask yourself why we have heard little from the usual mouth pieces, Sammy anyone?
But no, apparently another round of selective outrage takes priority. The DUP’s backwards politics only deepen the division, entrenching people in the past instead of offering a vision for a shared and forward looking future
