Great points. Particularly the one about the beginning of episode 8 slowing the momentum. That really helped take the punch out of the finale for me.

In the interview, Flanagan essentially says that he was managing the tone. He didn't think the audience would accept Carrie as the sequel's protagonist if she did not share the blame with Emaline. The fact that there was going to be a sequel seemed to be a priority over the integrity of the story.
"We knew from the beginning that she was going to survive the story"
This statement explains why the story is the way it is. The entire point of it is to pose a "What if Carrie survived?" but instead he chose to work backwards from there, trying to justify the end goal instead of deconstructing the story and reassembling it from the beginning and working forward to make things play out in a natural manner.
Replying to @Sean_OConnell
It is incredibly interesting to me that in order to justify not killing her we had to make her ostensibly innocent. And yet, I assume we’re supposed to (semi) root for her and emmaline’s friendship even though Carrie doesn’t seem to share her beliefs. Doesn’t feel super uplifting
Incredible video. YouTube can do things Twitter simply cannot, and one of those things is to break down subjects like this.

I need this yesterday.
Director Robert Eggers' version of Romeo and Juliet, announced as his next film by the Hollywood Reporter, is teenage love as the scariest monster of all.
Eggers isn't doing a modern reimagining or a clean, stylized Renaissance fair. He'll focus on the aggressive historical accuracy, brutal generational conflict, and a deeply gritty tone.
And to stay completely immersive, Eggers' actors will speak entirely in period-accurate Elizabethan English. Oh, and the sword fights are expected to be dangerous, bloody, and grounded in real historical combat as well.
It's all coming together now, folks!!!
Zack Snyder wants the meeting.
Asked about the Ellisons taking over Warner Bros., Snyder said:
“I would love to have a conversation with them.”
He also praised Warner Bros. as “one of the great cinematic brands of all time.”
Our insiders have been saying since November that Snyder’s DC return runs through this deal.
Now Snyder himself is on the record saying he wants to talk.
