This summer, I spent time with him at his Mumbai home for this @nytimes profile:

Plug-in solar allows people — renters and homeowners — to plug in a small, low-cost solar device, generate electricity, and lower their electric bills. My legislation to make it dramatically easier for people to install plug-in solar is on the Governor’s desk. kqed.org/science/2001795

People keep asking if I saw Trump's speech since I've been writing about election security since 2004. He's right that e-voting machines have security flaws and can be hacked. We've known this for two decades. But the *ability* to be subverted ≠ the machines *were* subverted.

I passed SB 79 last year — a new law authorizing more housing density near high quality public transit — and it went into effect last week. It’s fantastic to see the first applications moving forward. This new law also allows new housing to use a powerful permit streamlining law I authored (SB 423), so these projects should be able to receive their permits quickly.

If your stated goal is to win back the working class for Democrats, step one needs to be actually understanding them.
Platner's handlers built a caricature that might have won if not for the scandals - but not with working-class support.
My take for @nationaljournal ⤵️

My bill allowing people to use plug-in solar (“balcony solar”) just passed a key Assembly committee.
Plug-in solar is a low cost device that generates a limited amount of solar energy to power your home, reduce the amount of electricity you draw from the grid & thus lower your bill.
SB 868 clears away the needless red tape that currently makes it infeasible for people to use this technology.
Big win for lower utility bills & more clean energy.

okay I guess I have to talk about Péter Magyar here.
Let me just start with saying, in a very unladylike way, that you guys seem to have zero clue what happened in Hungary in the last two years, you completely miss the point, and you're a disappointing bunch.
Let's go.

For a decade since Trump Facebook groups have been the home of "resistance" organizing.
Now they are filled with spam, impersonation, cheap product sales, and clickbait.
What happened?
But first, a tour (link below)...

Fb is desperate for engagement since younger gen has left for other platforms. Fb pushed ai posts and comments in groups, ai in messenger, photos etc. They’ve tanked their credibility.

Anthropic's CEO Explains His Refusal to Back Down to the Pentagon.
Amodei explained his deep concerns over "autonomous drone swarms" and mass surveillance.
He pointed out a crucial reality: our military's constitutional protections rely entirely on human soldiers having the ability to disobey an illegal order. AI weapons don't have that fail-safe.
He also warned that AI could completely bypass the Fourth Amendment. Right now, the government can't possibly process every single conversation recorded in public spaces.
But with AI's ability to instantly transcribe and connect millions of data points, it could easily map out political opposition in seconds.

We built Jikipedia, a new wiki that compiles Jmail data into exhaustive reports on key figures in the Epstein scandal.
It lists all recorded visits to Epstein's estates, each person's possible knowledge of Epstein's crimes and laws that they may have violated.
Here is Epstein's executive assistant, who sent >100k emails to him and was shielded from prison via a 2007 non-prosecution deal.

It's important to show the distribution as well as the mean. This plot makes Dems look like the party of the elite. But the lowest-income quantiles in our society vote Dem. D's get both the poorest and the wealthiest. R's get the middle tiers.

For my first enterprise piece with @jewishinsider, I dug into the group behind the Queens protest that broke into "we support Hamas" chants.
I uncovered a growing bankroll, ties to an LA real estate dynasty and radical groups, and a role in a raft of inflammatory events across NYC.

When will you realize , YOU are the PR.
And you are part of the problem.
You obsessively defended a ICE killing.
You ran cover for clowns like Nick Fuentes and Myron Gaines.
And congratulations , you helped push normal Americans away from the Republican Party in real time.
Now you’re shocked the backlash is here?
This is what happens when you trade principles for clicks.
