At Apple, we believe technology should be made for everyone. It was powerful to see students and educators at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance School Singapore using our accessibility features, like Switch Control and Live Speech, to help learn, communicate, and create.

As we get ready to kick off #WWDC23 tomorrow, I met with students from all over the world who are creating apps that turn iPhone into musical instruments and bring the experience of reading braille to iPad through haptic feedback. Excited for what's to come!

Tomorrow is the 100 year anniversary of the discovery of insulin. In 1921, insulin’s discoverers sold its patent for $1 so insulin would be affordable to all. Today, a single vial of insulin that lasts me about a week is priced at $300+, only in the United States.

I don’t usually post Press Release links, but if you have any interest in Apple or Accessibility, this one is pretty big news. So many great projects; so many people involved. Amazing work! apple.com/newsroom/2021/05/a…

👋🏻 Hey Creators and companies, ♿️ #GAAD (Global Accessibility Awareness Day) is approaching this May. I would love to potentially collab and make something awesome! In past years I've interviewed Tim Cook, spoke at Apple, and released a travel access documentary. Reach out! 🎥👨🏼‍🦯

'Perhaps we should have lower expectations from a company that began as a web site to objectify women. Or was caught lying about the analytics it gave its advertisers. Or manipulated the news feeds of its users to study the impact on their mental health.'

Feedback is critical for us to get new ideas and frameworks right. This is particularly important for relatively young ones like SwiftUI. If you have issues/requests re: Accessibility in SwiftUI, please, please file a feedback. Feel free to drop me a line with the number.

Some interesting and very concerning details about #IndependentAssessments being leaked today. Transport funding via periodic payments will cease. If funded it will be in the flexible budget if funded, will require receipts and will screw over selfmanagers. Then there’s this.

This latest video is called ‘The Quadriplegic Drone Pilot’. My son once again demonstrating that the sky is the limit, thanks to Apple’s extraordinary, built-in accessibility. I hold a joystick controller. He taps a head switch. He’s a better pilot than I am.

It’s worth noting on Apple’s part (as the platform owner) they put in a ton of work a few versions ago to make Dynamic Type look “right” at humongous sizes like this. And yes, baked right into the standard API.
The @Twitter app updated to support system level larger font size preferences on iOS. Love seeing more apps support dynamic type. 🦯
