Over the past two weeks I have received conservatively 8-10 calls regarding needing pitching for summer leagues.
On top of that I have also spoken to various players who have said that their teams have no pitching…including one who said his team may be shutting down because they do not have enough guys to throw their games.
Summer ball used to be an opportunity for players to go out and play the game and better themselves, develop, mature grow into who they are…
Now with the massive amount of movement, changing of schools coupled with a lot of coaches holding back pitching from going out to play…there is going to have to be a massive shift in how most leagues operate as it has all changed now
I feel bad for the leagues/teams that have supported the college baseball world for years but there is going to have to be some kind of drastic changes for some of them to survive

As a baseball scout, there are two concerning hitting characteristics with HS & College hitters that stand out more today than ever before.
1) No Plan At The Plate
Successful hitters don’t just hope to get a hit—they know what pitch they’re hunting, they exercise zone awareness, they know what part of the field they’re trying to use, they know how to work counts, and how they’re going to attack pitch to pitch. They have a plan, they don’t just “wing it.”
If you fail to plan—then plan to fail.
2) Lack Of Competing In The Box
Every pitch is a battle. Fighting off tough pitches. Refusing to get beat. Making the pitcher earn every out. Competing in the box isn’t about the “result”—a hitter can go 0-4, but have four quality at bats. Competing in the box is about your approach, focus, and effort every single pitch.
Yes, swing operation and talent matters, however a “plan” and a “competitive” mindset in the box separate good hitters from the rest.
Never forget . .
Success is never owned. It is only rented, and the rent is due everyday!
Great hire. Go get em Coach
Happy to announce I’ve accepted the Head Coach position at SUNY Corning. To the recruits who followed me, Misericordia Baseball is second to none, and Coach Egbert and his staff will continue to provide an outstanding experience on and off the field. #All9 #RedBarons

Focusing on what you can control is not about having power over what’s outside of you, but mastering what’s inside of you. You unlock freedom and resilience amid chaos when you realize that your perspective, decisions, and actions are always within your control.

More “mitt magic,” this time by Cal Raleigh!
He is 2nd in Receiving Runs w/ 13 & is getting shadow zone pitches (The “shadow zone” is 1 ball in the zone to 1 ball out of the zone) called strikes at a rate just under 50% (Cont.)

I actually want to rip my hair out whenever Mets fans say Lindor is overpaid. Since his extension began he’s been:
Available: 278 of 281 games
A superstar: 4th in War in this span
And has a great work ethic and is clearly happy to be a Met. What more do you want out of the face of your franchise?
